Having a read around 2nd place refunds:
Blog 1: lowest odds, favourite horse in a small field (check the minimum number of horses to qualify). Estimate refunds approx 1 in 5.
Blog 2: As above. Bet within 10mins of race start for closest odds. Estimate refunds approx 1 in 6.

And so on. Everything I'm reading says the same as ^

So therefore, I'm going to lay in full.

Same Louise I'm just about managing to follow the instructions on oddsmonkey for beginners so if I have to think for myself I doubt there will be any winnings!

ladasha you are not the only one caught out by the Betfred t&cs. They somewhat sneakily changed them on 6th may to exclude PayPal (and I'm convinced they didn't update the mobile version until a couple of days later).

I've not had much time to spend on this this week so only a few bits.

I'm going to have to get my head around the horse refunds - glad some of you have started. I have to be honest I find the guide on OM a little confusing on this one.

So Maid is it just a matter of betting on lots of races, laying in full, and a certain percentage will over time come second to recoup the small losses and make a profit?

Ok I've backed the favourite at Skybet who are offering refund if it's 2nd or 3rd. I'll hold off laying for a while hoping the lay odds get shorter, and keep my fingers crossed!

Exactly that. Bet/lay on the horse with the tightest odds who is somewhere among the three faves.

I've been doing £10 stakes with a QL of 50p max. 5 x 50p = £2.50 loss to land a free bet of £10 (allowing for probability). Convert free £10 to real £8 = £5.50 profit. It's taken a few days to get used to horse betting but I can bang a bet on in two mins now, so worth the effort, IMO.

Ooh lay odds now much shorter - so an arb with a possible free bet!

What bookies offer these refunds if your horse places 2nd?

Skybets are offering refund as a free bet on the 1.50 at Chester if your horse is 2nd or 3rd.

Just placed my free accumulator with betvictor but it's come up saying possible return N/A (see pic)...any ideas why anyone?? It says minimum odds of 5.0 which I've done (adds up to 5.06 according to acca finder)

How did you choose louise? I have a free Betvictor accumulator to do but I don't know where to start!
