Now the OM calculator is saying there may not be enough money available at the exchange. Do I quickly cancel both bets?!

SierraJensen · 10/05/2017 19:42

I couldn't work out how to do that offer any other way as the team had to be up at half time too didn't they? That part confused me.

GinGeum · 10/05/2017 19:42

I'm panicking if you can't tell Roly Grin

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/05/2017 19:49

For the double winnings I've just placed a bet as usual, laying at the exchange the same way as I would for any other qualifying bet. That bet gave me a loss of £1, but if Real Madrid win both halves I get free bets that equal the winnings. I'm not at laptop at moment but should be £30 free bet iirc.

I don't know if this is the most efficient way to tackle that offer, as only way I can make profit is for Real Madrid to win both halves. I'm ok being £1 down if it doesn't work out, and will just treat it as a mug bet, but I haven't staked hundreds, and the odds when I placed bets were not far apart, if I was staking hundreds and odds were high I def wouldnt do it this way as The higher the odds and stake, the higher the potential qualifying loss, and as there's no guarentee I'll get free bets, I'm not comfortable with a QB of more than a pound or so.

That's just the way I've done it and theres probably better ways to approach this offer.

GinGeum · 10/05/2017 19:50

I can't work out how to cancel a bet with Grosvenor so I'll have to just keep my fingers crossed!

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/05/2017 19:52

Didn't see others had done the same as me until after I posted [fucking Internet still disconnecting all the time grrr] kind of weirdly reassured that if I've goofed up I'm not alone.

titchy · 10/05/2017 19:54

Gin horses tend to be bet on very close to the actual race so plenty of time - is it even partially matched? How long are the odds?

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/05/2017 19:59

@sierra, yes for the coral one, the team needs to be winning at half time to qualify for the double winnings.

The double winnings are paid as free bets so prob have expiry date, I'm sure we will all be checking today but thought would mention in just in case anyone thought it was cash and planned to leave it in bookies a while.

louisejxxx · 10/05/2017 20:03

Arghhhh athletics winning already!

louisejxxx · 10/05/2017 20:05

*athletico

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/05/2017 20:06

@gingeum. What's the sign up offer you are doing with grosnover? I signed up yesterday but could only do the casino sign up offer as you need to be a member at one of their brick and mortar casino to qualify for the other promos. Would have prefered being able to do the sportsbook free bet offer but don't live anywhere near a grosnover casino. I ended up in profit so I guess it' doesn't matter.

HollySykes · 10/05/2017 20:13

I've done the same thing with the Coral offer on the Madrid Darby, treating it like a mug bet.

louisejxxx · 10/05/2017 20:36

Eeeeek! Just had a bit of a squeaky bum moment when trying to place my free bet victor in play bet - the odds just move so damn fast!!! I've ended up with an inadvertent arb I think as I placed my bet on BV then clicked onto the betfair tab and my bet wasn't matched because Real had just scored again and the odds dropped massively. Now instead of coming away with £6, I'm probably going to end up with £12.

Good mistake for a change!

titchy · 10/05/2017 20:42

Nice one Louise!

SierraJensen · 10/05/2017 21:01

That was lucky Louise! There is a guide on Oddsmonkey about how to approach this Coral offer, but I have to say it's confused me a bit. It was talking about the Asian handicap, which I know absolutely nothing about, but I'm going to read up on it before the next offer like this as apparently they are common and there is a way to make a profit.

GardeningWithDynamite · 10/05/2017 21:31

Generally speaking I don't think you can cancel bets at the bookies unless it's one you can "cash out" (which might make you a small loss if you do it straight away). You could try live chatting to them if you've made a really big mistake or just bet on the wrong thing, I think.

I don't understand a lot of the "free bet if certain condition met" type offers yet - still working through the rollover sign ups.

I was trying to read about how you make money on the extra place horse races (bookies pay out for e.g. 5 places rather than 4 where betfair would only be doing the standard number of places). It looked like you had to be on every horse in the race (using several different bookies) in order to make money. The examples given showed about 800 in bets on the one race Shock but you got 70 or 80 profit at the end of it. I don't think I'm quite there yet Grin

HeyRoly · 10/05/2017 21:54

I backed Atletico in the Coral offer so I'm expecting a bonus in free bets soon, hooray Grin

Apart from that I've lost a ton of money out of the exchange so will have to make a bunch of withdrawals from the bookies so I can build the kitty back up again.

domesticgoddesshaha · 10/05/2017 22:58

I backed a draw so I've got some funds back in the exchange, hooray!
Need something nice to put my ladbrokes £50 free bet on now, plus got another a £50 free bet from bet on brazil welcome offer on the same game.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/05/2017 23:27

My coral and paddy power bets lost so that's kept bulk of float at exchange, had backed alto for the netbet free bets so that's in bookies.

Really wanted to watch the match, had nice bath before kick off, checked phone and had received voicemail afrom hospital telling me to ring back urgently as they are concerned about blood test results from earlier today and if I hadn't done so by 10pm someone will be coming to my house. Rang back immediately and was told they want to rule out blood clot and to get to and e as soon as I can, so that's where I'm at right now. Have had more blood taken and will know if it's a clot in an hour or so, doubt I'll be going home tonight.

Dh looks worried, dd too, but I'm weirdly calm. Stuff like this usually has me reaching for ciggies, but it didn't enter my head once. Cant get my head round three days cold turkey and no cravings! Wish I'd tried Allen Carr years ago, I'd always thought he sounded like those too-good-to-be-true things.

louisejxxx · 11/05/2017 06:32

95% that I had within bookies is now at the exchange. Went over the £100 total profit mark yesterday!

I've been making myself a list of major sporting events coming up over the next few months in the absence of football because I really detest horse racing and am feeling a bit more encouraged. I think a lot will be finding bets myself but I've managed that on a couple of occasions now.

domesticgoddesshaha · 11/05/2017 06:34

overthinking hope all turned out ok and you got some sleep.

domesticgoddesshaha · 11/05/2017 06:37

louise what is there?
I'm going to avoid tennis I think. It's a tricky one because different bookies/exchanges have different rules if a player retires during a match so you can lose your stake and get nothing at exchange.

SunshineDeLaSoul · 11/05/2017 07:01

That sounds scary, overthinking. Hope you're OK.

SierraJensen · 11/05/2017 07:19

Hope all is well and it was a false alarm overthinking Flowers At least they acted really fast and you got in quickly. Well done on the no smoking front too.

louisejxxx · 11/05/2017 07:22

goddess there is:

  • Eurovision (obviously not sporting)
  • formula 1 every other weekend where you could potentially bet on a couple of different things e.g winner of qualifying, winner of race
  • Tour de France
  • French open & Wimbledon
  • a couple of golf majors
  • when premier league finishes there is still the FA cup and champs league finals to come
  • am hoping that as the athletics world championships draws closer the bookies may start to feature some of that

Not much but I'm still researching..most on betfair as there's no point in any of it if you can't lay any of the above!
