If that's wrong, I don't want to be right...

lasagnefortea · 03/05/2017 22:24

Could it be that the mascara feature on Buzzfeed is sponsored content placed there by the company?

SSDGM · 03/05/2017 22:33

I am easily amused and should probably grow up. 😂😂

Smile
SSDGM · 03/05/2017 23:12

Oh, she's really unhappy. I've been asked to let people decide for themselves. Apparently she will make it work because she makes it fun.

Toobusytowee · 04/05/2017 08:53

Fun? How on earth is it going to be fun? Write lists of everyone you know or met once or made eye contact with. Persuade every person you meet that they need to join your pyramid scheme. Spend money you haven't got on products you don't need and beat yourself up every day for not allowing yourself to be successful.

DoratheExplorer17 · 04/05/2017 11:34

Has that John Oliver clip been shared on TV and botwatch? It's brillliant!

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 12:59

It couldn't be reached for a bit if I recall, Dora. Wink I just re-discovered it the other day.

SSDGM · 04/05/2017 13:02

Turns out Acti bit has already failed in other MLMs but this is the real thing.
I've told her that maybe she could consider a real sales job if she is so tenacious, plenty cash to be made there.

I feel strangely sorry for her.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 13:56

Think of the people she might be inculcating and don't feel sorry.

Spongebobette · 04/05/2017 15:05

As long as you don't feel so sorry for her that you buy something SS

BECAUSE THAT'S HOW THEY GET YOU

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 15:23

That's true. Buying a 'small something' for the sake of ........friendship.

Annie65 · 04/05/2017 15:29

Love that video clip Cozie, was painting my door while listening to it, might be a few blobs of paint where there shouldn't be, I was laughing so much. Brilliant thanks.Grin

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 16:08

Oh John Oliver is good. Smile I'm glad that the piece is available again.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 22:33

Here is the link again for anyone who missed it upthread.

AbiWanKenobi · 04/05/2017 23:36

Oh lord, had anyone seen the crying with happiness coffee bot today. Eleven ish minutes of the hammiest acting EVER. A real treat Grin

AbiWanKenobi · 04/05/2017 23:37

The shame-missed a question mark 🙈

Tacitits · 04/05/2017 23:55

Hi, just wondering if My Showcase is on your radar? An ex intern of mine interviewed to be a social media intern and they wanted her to recruit students to be "stylists" at £150 a go... STUDENTS, WITH THEIR TINY LOAN'S!

BSintolerant · 05/05/2017 00:23

Tacitits I've come across My Showcase. The bot in question is also involved in other MLMs and is a commercial lawyer. She wasn't trying to recruit anyone, and she wasn't making any crazy health claims. The My Showcase products werent anything special. I'll stick with Elizabeth Arden.

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 01:26

What is their 'progression structure for those who are ambitious' though? That seems to involve you setting up 'teams' and receiving commission on the basis of their work?

PonyoLovesHam · 05/05/2017 14:35

Please can someone pm me the names of coffee bot and stoke/salon bot?

I have lurked on these threads for ages, I'm actually fascinated by the whole thing. The whole "spend time with my babies" but that time is spent on the phone 😐 and the rest of it of course...

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 14:57

....and the rest of it of course....

Oh Yes indeedy.

Tacitits · 05/05/2017 15:49

It was made clear at the interview that they wanted to recruit students to become 'stylists', which costs £150 and you then earn commission on sales that 'stylists' you recruit make. No health claims it's true, but it's a classic MLM set up. It feels even more cynical to me when trying to part students from their loans with a promise of making money while you study.

cozietoesie · 05/05/2017 16:28

I reckon you need to be real careful. My 'suspicion' is that there are a number of firms out there, perhaps traditional direct selling organisations, who have decided to adopt almost a 'PicnMix' attitude to sales eg they have a 'traditional' stream where you can just earn a commission on goods you sell to supplement income and a more aggressive stream which you can access 'on request'. (And said 'request' might be very much down to which mentor you had - you could, for example, have a 'I don't know how you do it, Ermintrude? Oh Darling, you're clearly meant for better things - why don't you join the XXXXXX stream and that way, you'll help other people and get commission on their earnings...........?'

Do your due diligence with great seriousness - as set out in botwatch if I recall. Ask for - nay, require - properly audited figures before you sign on the bottom line and possibly give up a job/hand over large amounts of cash.

Spongebobette · 05/05/2017 16:41

Hmm I see that castle bot, husband and sister are over in Dubai on a big recruitment drive.
Fresh territory when the UK is saturated eh.
