NI contributions

When I had my business a couple of women worked for me. They didnt do many hours and earned below the lower earnings limit for NI contributions. I have sent back a NIL statement on my yellow booklet to HMRC but they have now sent me a Notice of Failure to Pay. I have telephoned them but they seem to think I owe them money. I am right in thinking that under teh LEL as an employer I dont have to pay either?

Jampots, my understanding of this is that if your employees were under the LEL, you shouldn't be due any employer's NI either.

yes that was my understanding too. IR are really p*ing me off. They simply dont communicate between deaprtments at all.

I have applied to have my company dissolved. Companies House have written to me today and said they have received an objection - I assumed it was from HMRC so now they are suspending my dissolution until September which leaves me having to find a new registered office as my house is currently it and we are moving

i had big big issues with them over this, i didn't owe them anything at all. Every month i would get a bill from them, which i didn't need to pay. It got me in such a state i emplyed a accountant and thank god he sorted it all for me. But from what i remember it happened because i never sent a yellow form off to them every month, even tho they knew i informed them i didn't need to pay. Hope you get it sorted i know how much of a massive stress it is.
