Car Parking Ticket

Hi asking for a friend who picked up a parking ticket that wasn't given by the council.
She was advised that that this car parking company couldn't enforce it and tho she might receive letters - to ignore them.

She's received a letter saying the bill is now over 300 pound and with the county courts. She doesn't know whether it's scare tactics or if they can indeed enforce it.

Does anyone have experience or know the legalities I.e is it true some car parks can't enforce?

They can enforce it - and do. The advice to ignore is now outdated. She needs to get on pepipoo for up to date guidance. .

And if it's at the courts she absolutely mustn't ignore it. She could get a CCJ.

They can't enforce the same way the council can but they can take you to court for it :www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-39478203

She needs to look online and follow the advice for appealing but it sounds like she has left it too late for that.
