Lets keep monitoring these pesky MLMs, shining a light on their nefarious activities, and supporting bots who realise the truth and need support.

Oh that happened to me fruity, but it wasn't a close friend. And I was v gentle with my observations. She instantly unfriended me.
She's now completely disappeared from social media, personal and business FB pages have been deleted and she's not posted on Instagram for months.
I sent her a brief anodyne email a few weeks ago but no response

fruityb · 25/03/2017 09:26

i didn't choose Facebook as I knew she'd see it there and I had no idea she followed me on twitter. But I'd have thought she was a good enough friend to say something to me. But no.

I've even bought stuff since Christmas to try and be a more supportive friend! Turns out I'm as disposable as the loose face powder she sells!

I'll be there when it goes tits up.

Toobusytowee · 25/03/2017 09:59

That's sad fruity. Your friend isn't in control of what she does right now. She's been taken from you by a cult. Is there any way you can keep an eye on her from a distance so you can see when it all goes wrong for her?

fruityb · 25/03/2017 10:49

I can't really I think I'll have to ask mutual friends. I'm blocked completely. I have her phone number but in all honesty I don't want to text her as not sure what she'll say. She wouldn't listen anyway I don't think as she's clearly sucked in and surrounded now.

I love social media don't get me wrong, but I don't have to live my life through it. And that's what's going on with her, she has to post her face daily. I got fed up of seeing "she did it because she believed" or "smashing my goals".

I felt it demeaned my friends who genuinely run their own businesses. Who spend ages chasing payment, who struggle to get work, who have had to worry about keeping afloat. It's never going to happen to them is it as it's not their business! Telling me about women's refuge help in Utah like it's just up the road!

Sigh. Will just have to wait and see/

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 11:27

I'm sorry, fruity and Sponge.

DomesticAnarchist · 25/03/2017 11:47

The same happened with my oldest friend, @fruityb. Except mine messaged me with a vile tirade. I just said I'd be there for her when she needed me. She added me again, but I've had to unfollow, and also restrict how much of my posts she sees, lest I inadvertently upset her again (and be branded a "neggy nelly" publicly, again).

I said to her that it's sad that her social media is now 100% marketing. Cult is definitely the word.

I'm with you on the tiresome posts of #bossbabe etc. And what's with the Law Of Attraction crap? (I know she believes it wholesale. She also believes completely in astrology. Sometimes I wonder how we were ever friends?!)

The thing that really gets me is she bangs on about her "business". She's named it with xxxx Ltd. so I looked it up, to see if it is registered with companies house. Of course it isn't. BECAUSE IT ISN'T A REAL BUSINESS.

Wow, that's cathartic. But I am genuinely sad that she's been brainwashed by this organisation. I'm worried for her family. Even her husband seems to believe it all too.

fruityb · 25/03/2017 12:01

She started this about a year ago and said it wouldn't be on her personal page. Slowly its taken over. Every day is a motivational poster, how amazing her life is and how she's so exhausted every day from answering all her messages. If you're so knackered working till 10 at night you're worse off time wise than me! I wanted to say things to her but was worried about the reaction - turns out I shouldn't have been eh. if you were running a business you'd be out looking for new products, set your own prices etc. She was always looking for ways to "expand her business" - I don't see how this is possible!! It's not even like buying a franchise - you're just in charge of a catalogue. That's it. I could bypass you and just order it myself!! Avon isn't this bloody invasive or annoying!

This is the latest in a long line of things she's done since she had her daughters. She quit working and has had various Facebook pages selling bits and bobs that weren't mlm, then this started and all hell broke loose.

I miss my friend. She is 'on' all the time. I worked hard to get my career, over years and hard graft! I didn't buy a kit for £60 and tell everyone I was running a business - no. You. Are. Not. I earn good money and don't drive a Mercedes, selling blusher certainly won't.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 12:42

Botwatchblog has a piece on this very topic, fruity. (Having an 'Independent business'.) You might find it useful to read. Just scroll down until you reach it - it's about the fourth or fifth piece in.

I'm not suggesting that you speak to her with this information, by the way, because it rather sounds as if she's past that point. This will be for you.

DoratheExplorer17 · 25/03/2017 19:12

@fruityb I'm sorry to hear about your friend. She will be so caught up in the whole thing and someone will be telling her to ignore the negativity and cut people out of her life. Hang in there, because when it all goes wrong she will need her old friends. Not to say 'I told you so' but to bring her back to reality. You will get your friend back and she will see how stupid mlms are

Spongebobette · 25/03/2017 19:31

I've just watched a video portrait of a top FLbot who looks like she lives in a converted castle
But she doesn't own it, it's rented and she's moved now anyway
The video is called 'my life now seems too good to be true'

fruityb · 25/03/2017 19:42

I hope so. I was going to text her but she hasn't text me and I just thought I'd leave it.

In all honesty and thinking about it she's been so wrapped up in it for so long that I lost her a while ago. She's never been to see me since DS was born and although she sent a gift for him when he was born, it didn't come till Christmas and he was born in August! I'm just really sad as we've known each other nearly 20 years and been through a lot together. Everything was about her Y sisters - even though she'd never met these women!!

I'll be there for her when it collapses - which wouldn't surprise me.

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 19:42

Well Yes, Sponge. Because it was. Grin

Thanks for that cautionary note, Dora. So you'd advocate withdrawing temporarily but 'being there when someone needs to come back'?

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 19:44

She - or a deep sliver of her - might well still be there somewhere, fruity. Who knows but that in 10 years, it will all seem like a bad dream?

penny1ane · 25/03/2017 19:56

Made the Uckfield News so must be a proper business

cozietoesie · 25/03/2017 20:01

I guess the editor of that paper hasn't read/been steered to Pink Truth yet? Wink

(And interesting that her existing 'business' seems not to have been enough for her. Grin)

MrGrumpy01 · 25/03/2017 21:38

Been away a long time. My FB is currently full of Usbourne books adverts, though the target audience seems to be those who haven't retired.

Also one today about a nurse, wigs for people with cancer and £70 000. And possibly another about slings. I'm being really targeted by FB.

MrGrumpy01 · 25/03/2017 21:41

Oh no it's wraps. The picture of the baby threw me. Sincerely me wraps. Usual claims of $50 000 a month earnings though.

Spongebobette · 26/03/2017 18:41

cozietoesie · 26/03/2017 20:55

This evening I read - well, skimmed most of it to be fair Wink - a NICE report on IBS treatment. Most illuminating. Smile

fitgirl26 · 26/03/2017 21:20

I was just coming on here to post that one Sponge! Speechless 😡

Spongebobette · 26/03/2017 22:30

Oh btw it's Dubai soon I believe for the FL Global rally.
I wonder how big the cheques will be this year

cozietoesie · 26/03/2017 22:34

I seem to recall that, on the whole, they were significantly reduced at a recent UK rally?
