Lets keep monitoring these pesky MLMs, shining a light on their nefarious activities, and supporting bots who realise the truth and need support.

The E-Dinar stuff...

I've done a tonne of research into this for a TV blog post that will go up shortly, but essentially:

  1. It's bollocks
  2. The mainstream cryptocurrency experts won't touch it with a bargepole - they know it's a scam
  3. You can't 'mine' currency on a normal laptop. You need £millions of processing power for cryptocurrency mining. The laptop thing is a red herring
  4. There is negligible value to the currency outside of the scheme - the 'interest' comes from the new members buying in
  5. I would guess that the new rules are a way of avoiding paying out as the scheme starts to collapse. Look out for new excuses: software upgrades, security breaches etc etc to stop people taking their money out of the scheme

There is at least one convicted fraudster behind this scam and it screams PONZI.

Much love,

Svetlana xxx

Spongebobette · 05/04/2017 21:45

Thank you Svetlanahun

I wonder how much real money has been ploughed in to this scam by unsuspecting people

It's terribly sad

One woman posted that she is keeping her personal laptop open in a drawer at work all day so it can earn her interest

ArbunneHun · 05/04/2017 21:52

That's just nonsense. But they need to make people believe that it's not just a Ponzi, that they're 'doing' something. It's like that ridiculous Traffic Monsoon where you had to click on banner ads for 3 minutes a day: it didn't do a thing, but people believed it was earning them money.

They're not 'mining' currency. They're paying into a Ponzi & they will lose their money. And cryptocurrency is not regulated by the FSA so there is no protection & no redress.

They target people who know very little about cryptocurrencies. If Scousebot has even the slightest amount of expertise, he'll know that he is being taken for a ride.

Spongebobette · 05/04/2017 21:56

Oh he has no expertise, poor thing, he gets by on motivational memes and blind faith

acatcalledjohn · 05/04/2017 22:00

1. It's bollocks

'nuff said.

With regards to that lean coffee picture, why do they refer to the ingredients as supplement facts? Because the list of ingredients is about the only factual part of any MLM?

fitgirl26 · 05/04/2017 22:49

So I'm assuming the other Cryptocurrency MLMs like GCC and Coinspace are run in a similar fashion? When Coinspace folds it will take a lot of ex LTW Bots out with it unless they get out in time - again.

miffytherabbit1974 · 05/04/2017 23:04

So, some of the Valentus and E-Dinar bots are evidently on a slimming product MLM crusade right now. One of the Valentus bots just posted the accompanying picture on to her FB timeline, promoting MLM cling film/poultry wrapping/slenderising product, Acti-Derm. When I first saw the photo I thought it was a parody - my eye was searching for the punchline but didn't find it. I am a bit behind the curve with the latest crackalackin and totes-amazeballs slimming fads, but this was, nevertheless, an eye-opener. I wonder if it is actual cling-film rebranded and marked-up as magical MLM slimming wrap? Totally kerrrrrrazy!!

Botwatcher84 · 05/04/2017 23:17

Wow, just wow

cozietoesie · 05/04/2017 23:19

That's just high weight cling film, surely. It looks like a promo picture from a very very low grade sci fi film.

JaniceBattersby · 05/04/2017 23:42

Didn't know they were bringing back Dexter.... Grin

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 01:02

Now you mention it...........Grin

Spongebobette · 06/04/2017 08:32

That photo gave me a proper laugh out loud moment

Toobusytowee · 06/04/2017 09:10

Does anyone know anything about trademarks? I keep seeing bots put TM after their silly group names. How can I find out if something is really trademarked? Are there penalties for smashing they are TM when they aren't? It's started annoying me. I imagine it's a whole lot of trouble and money to set one up and can't imagine it's practical for your average bot.

PurpleTraitor · 06/04/2017 10:16

I keep getting Facebook adverts for hair-growth coffee.

Is it just me?

ArbunneHun · 06/04/2017 10:59

What can't coffee do?! It's MAGIC!!!!

Whatsaldigottodowithit · 06/04/2017 11:48

Grrr. Local FL bot put on video in Dubai packing meals for people less fortunate, very good. Kids are there, very good. However they are apparently too vain to wear the given hair nets properly. They aren't supposed to be like a hat they are supposed to hold all your hair. I'm sure that the poorer people will be ever so glad to get aloe shampooed hair in their meals. Rant!

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 12:08

I 'believe' that you do have to apply, Toobusy, and that it costs a .....not inconsiderable amount. I have a feeling, though, that remonstrations need to be from someone who thinks that their own business/trademark status has been damaged by use of the term incorrectly and not from the general public. (Happy to be corrected on that of course.)

It may just be a fad.

penny1ane · 06/04/2017 12:24

Do flp reps promote the dubai trip as a all expenses paid 'holiday'?
From all the videos and pictures I've seen it just looks like business as usual in a different location with the family dragged along too.
I can't see how anyone would watch the videos and think that it's something for them. It would put me off.

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 12:37

That's your problem, penny. MLMs are supposed to be everything to adherents. Their raison d'etre. If you were to talk about wanting - say - some 'time away' or some 'me time', I suspect that you'd receive a raised eyebrow from your upline. Grin

Toobusytowee · 06/04/2017 14:51

I think you are right Cozie, from the bit of googling I did. I found out how to look up if something is trade marked but there are no consequences for putting TM when it isn't official.

WindyTriller · 06/04/2017 14:55

toobusytowee there was a bit on the use of "TM" on one of the recent Shop Well for Less programmes. The gist is you can use TM but not R and how companies were using TM to fool the consumer into believing a product is trademarked. Here's a link that explains the gist better than I can.

m.dennemeyer.com/news-en/news/85-the-trademark-symbols-R-and-TM-why-when-and-how-to-use-them/

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 15:13

Toobusy

Might it be taken as 'misleading advertising' generally, though? (The ASA consider a very broad range of infractions and say themselves that 'It will rule on the basis of the likely effect on consumers, not the marketer's intentions.')

Might be worth a try if you're irritated? Smile

Toobusytowee · 06/04/2017 16:04

That's a good idea Cozie. If someone is using 'TM' to make their product look more official and acceptable I guess the ASA might take an interest.

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 16:08

At least you would have tried that angle - and maybe the ASA's response might be interesting. Anyway - let us know how it goes if you decide to give it a whirl. Wink

cozietoesie · 06/04/2017 16:11

Also. It appears from Windy's link as if it's not just MLM adherents that may be starting down this path. That might be a point worth making - the more general application of the matter.
