Got to do 6 months projected shop figures - HELP

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 09:42

Can anyone tell me how I go about doing that?!

I have the figures for the first month of trading, and that is all. Obv I need to take out what I spent on advertising and just add that every x months when it is done, but I am assuming (hoping) that my customers will increase as time passes, so how do I guess (sorry "estimate") how much by?

All entirely new territory for me!!

So do you have the number of sales? Do you have a foot count (how many people have come through the doors)? If so you can work out the average sales per person and increase your figures like that?

quokka · 06/03/2007 09:50

sorry meant to add is this your first year of trading?

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 09:58

Oooh yes - I have the number of sales and the number of unique visitors each day (will find out if they are unique each day or if returning customers just aren't registered...) (Online shop).

I'm just starting in on month 2 Quokka (hence me knowing nothing )

well that good because you can work out lots of things like
sales per hour - for the day
average spend per customer - you always want that to go up!
How many hits you can convert into sales -

If your doing projected sales you need to take lots of things into account like xmas, sales etc.

Gosh haven't talked like this for a few years, hope I'm making sense?

Flamesparrow. Use google ads for your advertising, they're brilliant. Set your limit to £30 a month to begin with and see how you go.

Also if you go to www.statcounter.com, register and add the code to your website it will give you everything you ever needed to know about visitor stats.

Whatever you do, don't spend any money on 'website optimisation.'

Try and get as many reciprocal links as you can to boost sales.

It's very difficult to project sales figures, as it will rely almost entirely on some shrewd internet advertising and word of mouth.

I have my own website too. Just been on the most fantastic website commerce course hosted by the enterprising women's network (and it was free, hurrah!!)

If there are no conflict of interests, I wouldn't mind having a reciprocal link with you.

You also need to be really organised with your keywords and the content you have on your site in order to bump it up the organic listings ranking.

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 10:14

Oooh intrigued by how to be organised with my keywords!

I've got google adwords going at the moment - will pootle off and see what thats doing... the words I've got could probably use tweaking now its been going a while and I can see what gets the hits iyswim.

I've used statcounter before on another site, so I can sort that out again too.

FM - links would be good (which reminds me I have two more to add...)

Quokka - making lots of sense

Its times like these when I really appreciate the power of MN!!!

Suddenly feeling all "I have a business" rather than "I'm selling some nappies"

www.webconfs.com/search-engine-spider-simulator.php

Use this to spider your site and see what your keywords are doing - then make sure they match in with keywords on google ads and statcounter. Also have a call to action on the front page of your website - like buy cloth nappies, or receive impartial advice on nappies, as all the words on your site will get spidered too.

Finally spider the competition using the above address, it'll tell you what they're doing with their keywords!!!

Flamesparrow · 06/03/2007 10:33

Ahhhhhhhh, now that was enlightening! I now know why babykind list the makes the sell down the bottom of the side column!!!

OP posts:
funkimummy · 06/03/2007 10:38

Exactly!! Good isn't it? So did you get lots of hits straight away then?

Flamesparrow · 07/03/2007 11:24

Figures based on the averages from the last month look goooooooooood!

Now people just need to buy more nappies

My pleasure flamesparrow. It's great isn't it? Have you signed up for google ads or Kelkoo yet? You can earn extra revenue that way too, if you want to.
