and the '1 previous owner' as advised by the dealer turns out to be BSM. If I'd known this I probably wouldnt have bought the car. Can i do anything? Was the dealer obliged to tell us?

I dont think that they have to tell you. If you were happy with the mileage , service history etc then its down to you.

It might not have been car that was used for lessons all the time, it might have been a spare one available at the local BSM test centre or just used as a normal company car.

Themis · 02/03/2007 18:12

Besides which BSM ia prt of RAC so I would imagine that the service history and maintenance of the car was very good.

bambi06 · 02/03/2007 18:16

they change their cars every 6 months so the service etc would be good and 6 months wear would not be too bad

Blondilocks · 02/03/2007 18:18

I'd have thought that if you didn't ask who the owner was or what kind of person owned it before then there isn't likely to be much you can do as they didn't lie about it.

misdee · 02/03/2007 18:22

they cvhange cars every six months or xxx miles IIRC. (i learnt in a bsm car)

it will have been fully serviced etc. whats the mileage like? and was it a good deal?

littlemissbossy · 02/03/2007 18:23

no they are not obliged to tell you
they probably bought it at auction
did you have anyone, such as the AA, check over the car before you bought it?

zippitippitoes · 02/03/2007 18:24

I wouldn't worry..probably as well looked after as any average vehicle or better

beckybrastraps · 02/03/2007 18:26

I don't think you can so anything about it, but I don't think I'd be happy either. I suspect that it has been driven rather, well, roughly, even if it has been serviced etc.

satinshoes · 02/03/2007 18:27

It was a pretty good deal. Mileage was 13000miles. Car 1 year old. It is stull under the 3 year warranty so we didnt get checked by AA. I asked how many owners it had had - didnt think to ask about the type of owner.

you raise some good points about maintenance though so perhaps i shouldnt worry.

so could any other car...

littlemissbossy · 02/03/2007 18:29

I agree with everyone else, I really wouldn't worry, will have been regularly serviced and 13k mileage is good!

beckybrastraps · 02/03/2007 18:30

Well yes. But learners are particularly prone. But I'm sure it will be fine. My dh bought his last car when it had already done 120 000 miles and did another 90 000 in it before it died. Yours is a youngster!

bambi06 · 02/03/2007 18:31

13000 miles sounds very little for an instructors car so maybe it wasnt aninstructors car but management etc...my dh is driving instructor and thinks it sounds very little mileage!!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 02/03/2007 18:36

I suppose at least learner drivers aren't thrashing the car and doing handbreak turns, wheelspins, etc.
