I would just like to know if anyone has ever been investigated by tax credits I have got to send them a years worth of bank statements wage slips childcare receipts as they have sent me two seperate letters one to say they need to check my tax credits, the only issue I have is I have let someone use my bank and over the year £11,000 was paid into the account by them but it was not my money nor did I earn a single penny from it I would just take the money out and hand it over to he's partner as he was away a lot and I thought I would do them a favour I'm absolutely terrified that they are going to think it was my money and it definatelt wast I work part time doing 25 hours per week and rely on the extra from tax credits to help me with my finances bills nursery fees etc it is just me and my little boy I suffer with anxiety and haven't slept in almost 4 days since receiving this letter !! It makes it even worse that I have tried to ring the person who put the money in to my account and I cannot get hold of him as I say he's away a lot and I don't no how to explain this I don't want tax credits to think this is my income or has benefited me in anyway shape or form?? If my tax credits stopped or I'm investigated I'm worried that my
Housin benefit that I receive will be effected and I will lose my home if anyone has every been in the same situation any advice would be appreciated

Well I am sure the partner does see his gf at some point so why can't he give her the money then? He can't be away all the time and if it was innocent he should have made their own arrangements instead of using the ops account

Why doesn't he transfer the money into his gf account?

Because she is fiddling her benefits by claiming for whatever, and accepting cash on the side from her partner that won't be counted as income.

Hi
I’ve received a letter from tax credits asking if I should change my single claim to joint. I do have a boyfriend who occasionally stays over but he does not live with me. The letter states in its criteria that even if friends and family see you as a couple then your classed as needing to make a joint claim! When I rang tax credits and explained that I have a boyfriend and he doesn’t live with me and I pay for my children and all the bills, he said he couldn’t advise me and it was down to my discretion. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Just looking for advice really. I have recieved a letter from hmrc saying they have information my ex partner may be living at my address. They have asked for utility bills and bank statements etc which i am happy to provide. My ex was using my address for postal reasons as he has no fixed abode or somewhere safe for his letters to go. He is my sons father and we get on even when we broke up so i was happy for him to continue doing this as none of his bills were sent here and not many letters here either. Only thing im worried about is one month he used my bank for his wages to be paid into. I was takiny child support from it then putting whatever was left over back into his account. He used mine as he was over drawn on his account so didnt want them to take all the money. I didnt think this would be a problem. Hes never lived at mine as we was never in a stable relationship. He has no fixed address for me to provide for hmrc so im worried they wont belive me and will cancel my tax credits. I cant live on jist my work wages 500 a month as this doesnt cover all my bills let alone food or anythint and i have two children. Im so worriee and feeling sick i cant stop thinking about it. If they think i need to pay money back il be happy to do so but i just dont want my tax credits to be ended because they think im not living as a single parent when i infact am! Please help!
