Tax credits overpayment

Fuck fuck fuckity fuck.
They overpaid me despite me ringing on 7 Jan to give new salary details. Payments went down loads so I assumed correct. Just had a bill for £1355. Because they can't calculate the exact figure you give them (my salary jumped up to £26K due to maternity cover so I rang and cancelled). But they knock £5k off?
Help!

And not only that the bloody letter refers to a partner. Don't have one.

I think they just reduce it a bit to take it back over years, so don't worry.

I don't get them anymore - which is why I rang to cancel last Jan!

I cancelled ours and we owe them so they're taking it back each month... but we're not entitled to any... but they still put £22 a month in our account. I cannot get them to stop! They are idiots.

They really are.
