Can anyone help me work out this sum? I'm confusing myself!

Partner and I have split up and are just sorting last money bits

Money in bills account (under my name, to be split between us: £1200
Car: paid for by him £700
Car insurance: paid for by me £620
He was named driver and I was second driver
I came off the insurance after 6 months due to split and was refunded £113 back to my card
We said we would each pay a fair share for the first 6 months, rather than him paying more as he was named driver

It's the insurance bit I'm struggling with now! How does that split out and who is owed what money back?!

I'm assuming that the maths here is:

£620 - £113 = £507
£507 / 2 = £253.50

So it's £253.50 each for the driving insurance if I've understood correctly!

I don't think so, because I've been refunded that amount because I've been taken off the policy

I think actually that we discard the car because he bought it and kept it

So insurance is:
First half the year: £310 between us or £155 each
Second half the year: £113 for me and £197 for him

So in total, he owes me £352 for insurance for the whole year
But I owe him half the money in the bills account - £600
So in total I owe him back £248

I think that is now correct!!

Which is actually almost exactly your maths anyway!

Sorry I think I misunderstood your original post (it's a Friday afternoon so that's my excuse!).

Your maths does indeed make sense, I agree with the figure you get!
