i currently claim carers allowance for ds.i want to start work as a nappy agent (working from home) and am not sure how this will affect it? it is difficult for me to say how much i will earn/ how many hours i will work, which is why i'm wondering if anyone has any advice before i ring up the CA people and confuse them....

thanks

I think (my Mam get s CA) that you are allowed to earn under £50ish? Don't think the hours would affect it unless they overlap

The hours DO affect it!!!!!! I am at Uni 10 hours a week, but because they include my at home study (which I never actually get to do) theywon't pay me CA, i complained etc but no, its all absed on the hours they think you should be at 'work', so you need to check the amount on the CA website coz they will find out

You have to be caring for 35 hours or more a week. You can't earn more than £85 a week or study for more than 20 hours. ( I think ).

Don;t worry too much though- I rang them as I work self employed from home and a few years ago I wanted to work for £50 one week, then £100 the next for alternate weeks in terms times. As it averaged out as less than the £70 odd a week I was allowed then they said it was fine. You'll be filling in a tax return anyway where you have to include CA.
