Pension (Local Govt) worth continuing for a few more years?

DG has paid into this for 35 years. Technically I think you can carry on up to 40 years.
If he leaves/retires now how much effect will it have not paying in for 5
years more?
I presume it will be frozen and the lump sum 3x of his last annual pay?
If he changed to another govt employer of course he could transfer it?
He is thinking of doing p/time agency work and carrying with vol contributions into the original scheme? Can he do this?

Speak to the pension dept, they will advise your best option.
If he can pay in but not working for LG they're contribution would stop which is usually a nice %.
