hi my ds was born in nov 2001 which is after the deadline for the childtust fund thing
my dd has got her £250 and the grandparents would liket o make it up for my ds

my mum howwver is pretty certain that they get something when they are five she says another £250 and that the children that are 5 that were born after the dealine still get this £250 when they are five

does this make sense i mean that even though my ds is not entitled to the £250 when he was born he would still get the £250 when he turns five? although he is now five and i haven;t heard anything about it

I am not totally sure I understand when your DS was born WRT the deadline. Do you mean that DS was born before they introduced the CTF?

However, my understanding is that a child only gets the second payment if they were entitled to the first. In that case (assuming I undersatnd you) your DS will not get the second payment.

ScoobyDooooo · 23/01/2007 23:00

No thats wrong your ds will not get it, any child that got the first payment will get the second.

nappyaddict · 23/01/2007 23:00

i think i get what you are saying. dd got the £250 cos she was born after the deadline, ds didn't because he wasn't.

you only get the 2nd payment if you got the 1st. it is also my understanding only some people get the 2nd payment. i think it is means tested.

misdee · 23/01/2007 23:03

any child born ON or AFTER 1st SEPT 2002 is entitled to the CTF, any child born BEFORE that dtae is entitled to nothing.

so your ds gets nothing i am afraid.

SlightlyMadScientist · 24/01/2007 11:46

I don't think the 2nd payment is means tested. It certainly doesn't say so on the paperwork I have regarding DD3s CTF.

nappyaddict · 24/01/2007 17:19

says here that the £500 goes to the most disadvantaged families.

SlightlyMadScientist · 24/01/2007 17:39

the CTF website says the following

As long as your child was born after date posted below:

AT birth all children will receive £250, with an additional payment (? value) families earning less than approx £14,000 per annum.

At age 7 all children will receive an additional £250, with children of lower income families being paid an additional £250.

Doesn't change anything for you TB - your DS still doesn't get anything I'm afraid.

nappyaddict · 24/01/2007 18:01

does anyone know when they get the 2nd payment? not the one at age 7 but the other one.

SoupDragon · 24/01/2007 18:20

There is no other payment. At birth they get £250 plus an additional bit if applicable at the same time. At 7 they get £250 plus an additional bit if applicable.

nappyaddict · 24/01/2007 18:51

well i was supposed to be entitled to the extra bit but we haven't had it yet. my mum thought they got it when they were 1 but who knows now.

SlightlyMadScientist · 24/01/2007 20:07

this says that it is paid directly into the CTF account once it is opened.

I would ask the provider of your account for an up to date statement to see if anything has been paid in.

nappyaddict · 25/01/2007 11:29

ah so once the first £250 is paid in the pay the top up separate. i will go in and check today thanks.
