Once you have filled the name of the driver in they will send fine? I think.

JanH · 15/01/2007 22:49

This is just the first stage, lisalisa - after they have the driver details they will write again with your options, which may still include points and a fine.

Out of interest though, how long ago was it, and is the car registered in your name or someone else's?

unknownrebelbang · 15/01/2007 22:49

The NIP is simply that. Complete the form, and usually they will send you back another letter, giving you the option of paying a fine and 3 penalty points.

You have the option of going to Court, but if you're guilty it's usually better to accept this. Courts will often fine you more, and add costs.

Obviously if you're pleading NG, then you would go to Court.

jampots · 15/01/2007 22:49

of course if you really cant remember who was driving then they cant prosecute i think

JanH · 15/01/2007 22:52

If it was more than 14 days ago, and the car is registered in your name, you don't have to do anything.
