I'm with Barclays, it is fairly crap and expensive.
Hello Mrs GR, good weekend?

Hello, all (Oops, did you get my email - am sure I sent one!).

A&L are recommended by Martin Lewis on moneysavingexpert.com - they do 6.1% interest on credit balances, which I think is pretty nifty, so I think I'll swap. Just wondered about how easy the internet banking is.

i have halifax moneyback

I get 1% cashback annually on all debit card purchases; so utility bills etc even count towards it

I don't have overdraft tho so don't know about balance transfer malarkey

bewilderbeast · 14/01/2007 22:39

I'm with the Halifax, I hate them with a passion, in the last 3 months I have had cause to make 5 or 6 official complaints about their level of service, rudeness and sheer incompetence.
I also have an account with Nationwide who are wonderful!

Bozza · 14/01/2007 22:40

We have had an A&L a/c for about 18 months and it has been fine and no difficulty with the online banking. Can withdraw cash from Post Office - no bank or free cashpoint in our village.

hunkermunker · 14/01/2007 22:41

Am also interested in Lloyds/TSB because of their save the change system - it rounds up purchases and sticks the difference into a savings account.

hunkermunker · 14/01/2007 22:42

Kid, why are you getting him to change from A&L to NatWest?

We are with Smile - the internet bit of Co op Bank and they have never been less than wonderful. So easy to change to them - they do it all for you!

Bluebear · 14/01/2007 22:44

I had Lloyds and left due to umpteen small but irritating errors over the course of many years.
Now with 1st D and they are fab.

LaDiDaDi · 14/01/2007 22:45

I bank with A&L, current account, savings account, credit card, ISA and mortgage.

And no I don't work for them .

I've never had any hassle with them, I often forget my online banking details and the people on the phone are lovely and talk me through my security checks without making me feel like a dementia ridden fool.

Oooh, hunker, we're with A&L and they are pretty brill on the whole. Post Offices act as branches which is useful (our nearest actual branch is 15 mile saway) - if you pay in cash using your debit card it's credited instantly and you can get foreign currency or pay for large amounts of postage with the card too with no ID needed.

Online banking is dead easy too, their charges are minute if you overdraw within overdraft limit, and interest on credit balances is paid monthly. And if you have a Premium savings account too you can transfer money between the 2 instantly.

Can I be your refer-a-friend please? Then we both get £25!!!

hunkermunker · 14/01/2007 22:50

LOL Jan!

Yes, why not - I think I'll be DH's, as he's looking to move from Shabbey too

Email me to remind me!

I don't even have that any more since our Great PC Crash in December!

Will email you now

weepootleflump · 14/01/2007 23:21

I switched over to A&L a year ago when they were offering £50 to each party for refer-a-friend , but I've been really pleased with the account - and they've consistently had the best rates on martin lewis' site.
