Student loan overpayment

My dh just managed to get a refund for overpayment on his student loan repayments. He's got a cheque through the post.

We are unsure if this has been taxed already, or if tax is due on it? Before we spend it all Grin.

So he paid them too much out of post-tax income?

Ah. I see your quandary. At what point was his income top-sliced?

duckyneedsaclean · 19/04/2016 15:46

Errrm not sure what income top sliced means.

Basically, student loans kept taking payments from his salary after he had finished repaying the loan. They have now refunded the overpayment, but the money was taken before tax (I think?). So I don't know if tax is due on this?

He's fine. Loan repayments come out of net salary.
