A brief history of the threads so far-

A few people were bemused at their friends' strange personality changes when they joined MLMs.
Eyespying told us they were tragicomic, thought stopping cultic racketeers.
We told him to go away, he was clearly obsessed, and can he go to his own serious thread?
We delved a bit deeper into the issues.
Eyes started creeping back. We told him he was too serious.
We became more horrified at the information being turned up and were sharing links.
Eyes told us aboutMerchants of Deception.
Timeless Vie was set up as a parody about MLMs.[[www.facebook.com/timelessvie
Facebook,]] Twitter, blog, Instagram and YouTube were all used.
People started coming forward, telling of their experiences in MLMs.
We became more horrified.
Bot Watch started on Facebook where links were put up of interest to do with MLMs.
Botwatchblog started and produced factual analysis of the discussions from MN.
MLM members (bots) waded in saying it was all ok. You can earn great money. You just have to work 19 hours a day and not worry about morals.
Bots complained about their names being used. Their lawyers complained to MNHQ so that MN now do not allow us to use bots' names or show screengrabs of their writings even if it is in the public domain.
Blogs and FB posts increased, with the increasing amount of facts and whistleblowers coming forward.
FL lawyer tried to get TV YouTube video banned.
Bots claimed we were bullying them because we were asking them questions they couldn't answer. we were called middle aged women and accused of being drug dealers.
It got a bit nasty so we ate some cheese for a bit and they went away.
Health claims from FL bots now reducing dramatically as a result of pestering from all of us.
We stopped telling Eyes he was too serious. We all started thinking in his language and realised he was right.
Eyes turned out to be very funny and entertained us all.
Sunday Times article produced exposing FL. With a little help from people here.
Lawyers still persisting in trying to ban TV's videos.

I have 2 friends signed up to Jamberry. Both with lots of young children and no money to spare. I could cry Sad

glasgowlass · 05/04/2016 13:10

May I join please?
Have just reciced my first Jamberry invite (well more a please join my "team") from my best friend who also tried to get me join her Yonique, herbalife & juice plus "teams". She is a very intelligent woman, I'm perplexed as to why she keeps doing these MLMs. There are only so many times I can tell her I'm not interested. I also get the usual randoms on fb trying to recruit me as she is a mutual friend. I truly despair.
She had asked me about TV as I follow on Twitter & fb but she refuses to test the awesome articles & links you have posted.
She is losing RL friends by the dozen due to this but puts it down to jealousy. Such a shame to see her sucked in again & again.

cozietoesie · 05/04/2016 13:10

Don't cry.

That's why people care so much about this. Some of the stories from the brave folk who have left and are prepared to talk about it.................

glasgowlass · 05/04/2016 13:10

*test = read.
Damn autocorrect.

bulstrode · 05/04/2016 13:12

Whoops right way up in the preview! Apparently it's a professional home based business in the massive health and wellness sector. Not sure she'll be expecting the response if doing door to door follow up

FLhahaha · 05/04/2016 13:43

bulstrode how about doing a Timeless Vie leaflet drop of your own :)

Everycloud10 · 05/04/2016 13:51

Interesting to read this thread. A good friend of mine has recently been ensnared into juice plus. It's taken over her fb. She's using her kids to hammer her point. It's awful. She's an intelligent woman who has been totally taken in. She's converted and she's onot just be coming up to the end of her first order herself as you have to buy some many months at a time. Scary stuff.

bulstrode · 05/04/2016 13:52

There's an idea!

bulstrode · 05/04/2016 13:53

Found her online in 2 seconds....it's forever. Shocker

cozietoesie · 05/04/2016 13:58

Timeless Vie has - what - over 1100 likes now? Smile

Camelandmaus · 05/04/2016 15:47

Ok, I'm almost caught up on the threads (sorry J.O.B getting in the way). I have just Googled "Forever Living" and "UAE" and yes it's been rife out here since about 2012 and apparently they have "offices/stores" in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

I'm also very sad to see someone I have a lot of respect for on an online expat board; pushing it here who apparently did it back in the UK and was "transferred" when she moved here :(

Thankfully I can't find any links to the area I actually live in but I know some communities here have been involved. I have some contacts within these communities so I will try to spread the message.

I have posted links to here and TV on my "people I actually know in real life" group on FB which covers at least 15 different nationalities so hopefully it will spread the message a little.

Things work very differently here; so I will try to speak to some contacts I have to see what the legal situation is with regards to these things.

Can someone please PM me how to NC?

CheekySmile · 05/04/2016 15:58

1157 likes for TV at this moment in time.

My FL bot purchased over 1000 likes for her page last week. A quick Google shows it'd cost about £15. Why? To make her seem more popular and so people will buy from her or sign up under her? It's not going to help with engagement on her page, if anything it'll negatively impact as the FB algorithm will see her engagement rate as awfully one for the number that like her page.

Yes, I'm studying social media management at the moment...Grin

CheekySmile · 05/04/2016 16:00

awfully low...

Camelandmaus · 05/04/2016 16:10

Herbalife is very active here too :(

GeezeLouiseBelcher · 05/04/2016 16:14

Juice plus does have a certain attraction to it Grin

cozietoesie · 05/04/2016 17:19

You can purchase likes? I'm very innocent, clearly.

Annie65 · 05/04/2016 17:22

Wow cheekysmile, I didn't even know you could purchase likes. Hmm

lastuseraccount123 · 05/04/2016 17:26

neither, huh.

i'm pleased to tell everyone TV's FB engagement is v. good. also, we're over 45,000 views on the blog and adding in the YT channel, over 10,000 views of our videos.

thank you all for being part of the Resistance.

Also I'm about to share a post in honour of those fuckers Jamberry's launch in the UK. It's about how much they are likely to be paid (read: not much). Please like or share the post - it's the best way to get it out there as we don't have the money to boost it against a big MLM like Jamberry. and THANKYOU.

Toobusytowee · 05/04/2016 17:35

Someone asked a few posts back if any MLM can join the DSA. Eyes wants us to know that the DSA was originally American but now lots of countries have them, usually they are registered as private commercial companies. They are controlled by the World Federation of DSAs in America. That is controlled by a few MLM people. They get involved with lobbying activities and work to promote MLMs and suppress attempts to expose the truth.

A thought of my own here- bots proudly state their MLM is registered with the DSA therefore it must be legitimate. I wonder how they feel about all the MLMs that were with the DSA and subsequently shut down for being a pyramid scheme? There's quite a few. That says to me the DSA allow pyramid schemes into its membership.

please be brave huns, like & share this!

the DSA is a load of bollix.

CheekySmile · 05/04/2016 17:52

Yep you can purchase page likes. As I'm studying social media at the moment I've always got my eyes on the number of likes for pages I visit and hers was similar to another of my friends (non-bot) pages until Easter Monday. You can click on the number of likes a page has and see a graph of the changes over the previous two weeks. And hers spiked with over 1000 new likes on one day (she'd been getting 1 or 2 a week previously) so it's pretty obvious what happened.

But they're vanity metrics. They'll be accounts set up to specifically follow people who buy them and are unlikely to actually engage with any of her posts. Another expense.

cozietoesie · 05/04/2016 17:59

Are people likely to clock any spurious activity and remove the accounts (that have been liking) and the likes themselves?
