I rest my case your honour 👌🏻

BSintolerant · 20/03/2016 01:04

Is it a yellow plastic case?

DontBeALemmingApplePieIsNicer · 20/03/2016 01:05

I'm inspired too BS...I'm cracking open the chianti! Grin

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:05

Has anyone had any thoughts about the collecting of bee pollen? Smile

clarinsgirl · 20/03/2016 01:05

Don't know enough about it Cozie. My Dad kept bees so I grew up with lots of honey and Royal jelly! Don't remember anything cruel about this as the bees were fed over the winter with sugar syrup as we had nicked the honey. Like most forms of farming though I imagine that things look very different when done on a commercial scale.

I think my view is that the most valuable bee 'product' is pollination and we should probably leave them alone to get on with this.

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:08

The honey collection is a personal thing to me as I mentioned - and Yes. I suspect that industrialisation has much to do with that.

DontBeALemmingApplePieIsNicer · 20/03/2016 01:08

cozie I don't actually know that much about it tbh. May have to look into it...I don't eat honey, and I'm not sure whether I actually use any products which contains it. Do you have a link?

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:10

The pollen conversation link is up above, Lemming. (My post of 12.43 I think.)

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:14

I'm sorry - that was lazy. Here it is again.

DontBeALemmingApplePieIsNicer · 20/03/2016 01:18

It's ok...I found it, and Shock. Shocked and very, very saddened. I need to read into this further, but oh my God! 😐

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:19

I don't really want to get into a wampum discussion but it strikes me that, if accurate, it would act as just one demonstration of some very considerable moral and ethical issues with MLMs.

clarinsgirl · 20/03/2016 01:19

I am intrigued by the idea of collecting bee pollen. I have visions of an army of minion bots stopping bees and scraping the pollen off their legs into jam jars. It also brings to mind that episode of Ben and Holly where the wise old elf dresses as bee and abseils into a bee hive.

Anyone got any gin?

DollyTwat · 20/03/2016 01:21

Cozie I'm shocked, I had no idea
I reckon you should start a new thread with this, you'll reach a different audience and get more support

BSintolerant · 20/03/2016 01:22

Cozie thank you for posting the link. I had no idea how much damage collecting bee pollen does to the poor creatures.

Sad
DontBeALemmingApplePieIsNicer · 20/03/2016 01:23

I'm swinging between nearly crying at the thought of the bees, and sniggering over the "plastic yellow case" comment. I obviously need to grow up...I think I just grew down instead! Grin Food for thought, though- pardon the pun.

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:24

I don't know how accurate it is Dolly. It resonates with my instincts about bee products but that is all at the moment.

If accurate, I don't see how anyone could bring themselves to sell the stuff.

DontBeALemmingApplePieIsNicer · 20/03/2016 01:26

Cozie if you do start a thread about it, can you please share the link on here or PM it?

cozietoesie · 20/03/2016 01:27

I doubt I shall, Lemming. Feel free - anybody - to do so though. Smile

clarinsgirl · 20/03/2016 01:28

I've no idea if it's accurate or not but given the practices in chicken farming, foie gras production and milk production to name but a few then we should probably not be surprised (I speak as a life long veggie, not a vegan). I prefer to think of the minion bots and jam jars.

ICJump · 20/03/2016 01:44

What is bee pollen? Isn't pollen from flowers?

throwingpebbles · 20/03/2016 06:37
