I've started this the absence of anyone else starting a thread on the subject and since the Chat thread will disappear in a month. Hope you think it's in the right place.

I'm still dithering which is annoying me. I've made a new e-mail - hope to get bank account this week. I keep looking at the different websites like Bonus Bagging and Profit Accumulator etc and can't decide between them. Put off by what Tawny said about Profit Maximiser and don't trust myself to do it without help so going for Bonus Bagging, i think.

My £30 free back bet was Win Draw Win then I layed against which is the odds shown on Save the Student so think I've done it correctly.

It was the first red box 'against' middle one was 'draw' so guess last one was 'win'.

Anyone know if this is correct.

NotDavidTennant · 12/04/2016 23:18

Each row in the grid is a different outcome.

So if you look at tomorrow's Premier League match, the first row is Crystal Palace (to win), the second row is Everton (to win) and the third row is the draw.

On Betfair you should lay (by clicking the red box) whichever outcome you backed at the bookies.

If you're not sure what you're doing spend more time reading up and until you understand it. It's not worth the risk if you're not sure.

freshprincess · 12/04/2016 23:21

Comingtokent - that's called overlaying. If you lay bet wins you're profit would be higher, but if you back bet wins you'd lose the extra liability and would probably be out of pocket. you're adding an element of risk which = gambling!

Arrowminta - the blue boxes Re back bets the pink are lay bets. If you are using BF as an exchange you want the pink ones. You're only laying one outcome So if your back bet is Man uTd to win you would pick the Man Utd lay box.

Arrowminta · 12/04/2016 23:26

Thanks, I did it right on my first bet but got confused on the free one. Think I've got it right, fingers crossed.

joyfulworld · 13/04/2016 14:14

Anyone know the best "Advanced service" to go for?

I've done all the free bet sign up offers with OBS and now deciding between PM, PP and OddsMonkey (from www.comparematchedbetting.co.uk) to learn about reload and ongoing offers etc.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

ComingtoKent · 14/04/2016 08:22

I'm reporting back as I've now completed my first free bet successfully (thanks to help from freshprincess!) - I'm £6.82 up. However, it would have been £20+ if I'd had a £30 free bet from Paddy Power rather than £10.

Having gone very slowly and cautiously here are the things I think I've learned:

  1. Your initial back bet and lay bet are just done to qualify for the free bet - they basically cancel each other out and don't lose you anything.
  2. Follow the instructions exactly to get the forecast profit - see freshprincess's comments about overlaying above. That, as I understand it, puts the liability money at risk which you obviously don't want.
  3. The free guidance on savethestudent is very easy to follow. You can put your own figures into their calculator too - I discovered this too late after panicking about only having a £10 free bet though.
  4. The free calculator on Oddsmonkey is also very easy to use.

I'm not sure whether I'll be committed enough to this to pay to join one of the guidance sites, but I am going to work my way through some of the offers on savethestudent until I get a bit more confident.

Good luck to all you other newbies and thanks to the more experienced posters on here for your support.

So a couple of days in and I am £26 up - would have been more but I rushed and made a mistake and spent £11 I shouldn't have done...but I have learned from it and won't rush and make the same mistake again.

GardeningWithDynamite · 14/04/2016 12:56

Is there a free calculator I can use somewhere to match up bets? I've just been sent a "bet £5 and get a £10 bet free" by email. I'm doing bonus bagging at the moment and I don't think I can use that for this.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 14/04/2016 15:14

Save the student has a calculator. Am waiting on a match tonight at high I used my first £30 free bet on so hopefully today will be my first profits!

cuntycowfacemonkey · 14/04/2016 23:20

When you guys place your qualifying bets if you get your free bets straight away do you use them straight away or wait for the outcome of your qualifying bet to come in first?

Just placed my qualifying bet with William Hill and my £20 free bet is already showing in my account should I just go straight ahead and use it or wait until after tomorrows match?

Just made my first profit on PP but waited for qualifying match to be over before using free bet and the match for that was tonight so took a few days to make my first profit. It's going to be slow progress if I keep doing it this way! Reluctant to rush in and make a mistake though

Diamogs · 15/04/2016 07:03

I use my free bet as soon as I get it, and I try and bet on something that is coming up soon

joyfulworld · 15/04/2016 08:36

I placed them straight away and was fine. I could get through the sign up offers quicker then, so I can now move on to the daily calendar ones now.

keithydee · 15/04/2016 10:30

I am stopping PA, the deals are not always worded well and the company who run the odds matcher have apparently sacked them off so it isnt working too well. Remember peeps, bookies can keep the money if they suspect bonus abuse, some have had 100s taken back. The first few deals are fine, it gets harder after that. Another way is to scalp bets using special software, same sort of principle.

Diamogs · 15/04/2016 11:03

What does scalp bets mean Keith?

freshprincess · 15/04/2016 12:25

I'm with PA at the moment, I haven't finished all the offers and the info I get on the reloads more than pays for itself. I'm a little annoyed that their compensation for the odds matching software going down is a free trial of something else though. (Although I was considering a month of it anyway to see if it was useful, sooooo). All lot of the value for me is in the forum, I've had a few minor disasters averted after reading the comments and posting for help. dont think I'm anywhere near going it alone yet. (I've never even heard of scalp bets for instance).

For the free bet, I sometimes wait a couple of days till I can bet on a big match or event. Nothing says match better like a bet on the fourth division of the Hungarian national basketball league (if that exists). if you haven't got much money in exchanges though it's hard to wait.

timeforabrewnow · 17/04/2016 06:57

Has anyone joined 188bet? I started with this last night, and they want so much detail it is scary - ie drivers licence, bank statements etc etc - not sure if it's worth the risk there

Diamogs · 18/04/2016 08:59

Is that just to validate your age?

timeforabrewnow · 18/04/2016 10:18

It's to validate everything and I wished I hadnt started with them - hope I can get my money back off them Confused

freshprincess · 18/04/2016 11:31

You'll get your money back, they aren't allowed to keep it. I have an account with them and they are above board.

I've only been asked this once, not by them. I don't think it's too unusual though.

timeforabrewnow · 18/04/2016 12:16

Thanks for that reassurance freshprincess.

Grinnypig · 20/04/2016 09:31

Got my first gubbing yesterday by Betbright. Looking at the PA forum seems I'm not the only one! Hadn't used them much at all. Will have to look at doing some serious mug betting to keep my other accounts.

MaybeDoctor · 20/04/2016 11:22

I have started a bit of mug betting here and there.

Made my first mistake by not reading the T&C on one bet, so hadn't placed the right number of qualifying bets and the time limit had expired - but as I had made a lay bet it all worked out at just a small loss of £2 or so.

I only do it once a week or so, but so far have invested £375 and made a profit of £200.

Diamogs · 24/04/2016 21:54

Where has everyone gone?

How do you do mug betting without losing?

Also, I have a small win on skybet of £8 but can't withdraw as it is below their limit - should I just keep matched betting with it until I win enough to withdraw or is there something else I should be doing?

joyfulworld · 25/04/2016 09:43

I'm here :)

You just need to back and lay differents bets, as if you were doing a qualifying bet to get your free bet. If you bet on large events (I mainly just use football and horse racing), then you can get your QL's really small.

You can do the same with skybet, sure. Good idea.

Diamogs · 25/04/2016 12:00

Thanks joyful - I don't want to get gubbed, so hopefully that will help?
