The article just seems to reiterate that because Herbalife sell a tangible product it's not a pyramid scheme which contrasts with Ackmans assertion that all Herbalife profits are generated by recruiting and therefore it is a pyramid scheme. We can only hope they dig deeper because it would surely become apparent if they checked sales figures that none of the distributors are making a net profit.

Hi all, aside from shamelessly placemarking, I also wanted to add my story.
My cousin is heavily involved with Ariix. He gives the impression he's quite high up the ranks. He contacts me once a year to try and recruit me. He works 7 days a week attending training events. I couldn't tell you the last time he didn't spend a day working, or at least as far as I can tell. He shows his flashy lifestyle, car, rented apartment etc. I worry it will all come crashing down around him and he's already ditched his mates and family in favour of those in his upline/downline. He even tried to rip his own mum and mine off with Juice Plus, which he was involved with until last year when he jumped ship with his teamies to join Ariix. He never mentions the company name though and in 6 months I have only ever seen him show the products once. It's all about the meetings, planning and lifestyle. It is only recently I have worked out which company he was with as all the event posters and his status updates just say The Opportunity Company. It's like a big secret!
As a side note, did anyone notice that JL is also a director of a company that was/is under investigation for being a tax haven? It came to light at the same time as the Take That members got done for tax evasion. Just thought that was interesting.

You say that he's a full time Bot, so does he have independent sources of money (savings, property, inheritances, etc.)?

How do you think he funds his 'Ariix' activities?

Maybe we should give a different, dry, name to the 'stuff' then? Probably not 'wampum' because that's a bit emotive in my view for it to be used to third parties such as distributors. (Accurate though it may be.) Something boring - and generic enough to be parlayed across all the MLMs.

Love the thought of the new products, last.

Imagine having someone turn up to your house for a 'friendly little chat' and being able to give them a mug of tea with the TV symbol on it? (And smiling sweetly all the while.) If they were on the recruit, you would be making your position clear without needing to say a word. If they were just a friend come calling, you might interest and warn them.

It would actually be a 'win-win' situation for people.

I think the false medicinal claims are a really strong story for the media - the more evidence we have the better. And there are so many special interest groups - diabetes, autism, etc who would be likely to come on board.

Someone on my Facebook has just started going on about Jamberry, launching next month - is this as bad as other MLMs like FLP? Not sure if there's a 'spectrum' of MLMs in terms of destructiveness and cult-like qualities...

I have read some links about Jamberry (www.bottlesoup.com/2015/04/18/jamberry-scamberry-why-the-latest-mlm-preying-on-sahms-will-never-give-you-financial-freedom/), but as it's new in the UK there doesn't seem to be loads of information about it.

I reckon he started in Oct 2013 as that was when he first contacted me, but he set up a "business" in Feb 2013. Like most of his closest teamies he advertises himself as a personal trainer and that was his career. He doesn't do much of that these days although he still says that is his job. I worry he has funded with credit but I actually think he's at the stage now where he's so high up things are being funded by his downline. I just don't know. He seems to spend every waking moment "training" others and giving pep talks at events. There seems to be no requirement for him to sell anything but the lifestyle and "opportunity".

eye just looked at his Facebook and for the third day running he's reported being tired due to not sleeping well. I think it's getting to him. He keeps using #30days and all his teamies keep saying all roads lead to may 7th. Could that be some kind of major event Ariix are holding and they all want to get to it?
