eyes, if I were you I would follow up every phone call you have made with an email 'as per our conversation...', cc'ing any addresses you may be able to obtain. People in office are less inclined to ignore things when they are in writing, especially after The Times have started displaying an interest.

LMGTFY Experience has taught me to test the water with phone calls, and then follow up with e-mails, if recontacted. Some of the people I spoke to today were very interested from a personal point of view, and they were more than willing to speak to their superiors on my behalf. They took copious notes.
