shadowplay · 01/03/2016 19:20

Evening all. As you were.

I've spent the last half hour catching up; I have one of those damn job things that I have to go to, if only there was a way to make money by sitting in my pjs and arsing about online all day....

Anyway, Chimps, you say you won't respond to Eyes because he bores you, so maybe if I ask the question we can get a response, and I'll paraphrase.

What are are the universal key characteristics of a pyramid scheme, Ponzi scheme, money changing game and how would you say they differ from mlms?

Ribbet8890 · 01/03/2016 19:21

Melaw21 You wanted a Council du Parslai duvet?

TheGreatSnafu · 01/03/2016 19:39

Oh no. I Have a sick feeling but hope I'm wrong. Just have a very over enthusiastic post from a friend in a vulnerable position who is resigning her job to become a Thermomix ambassador. Is this MLM? I can't work it out.

Please god that it's not. She's been through so much.

MrGrumpy01 · 01/03/2016 19:40

In terms of medical claims cab I just ask something.

I have a medical condition and I once asked on a fb group if I could use anything. I was recommended a licenced cream available from Boots (worked) I am guessing that is OK, used for what it is intended and licenced.

For sake of argument person B says 'I am a FLBO and I use x cream and it really helps' Not allowed I guess, however could person C (not a FLBO) say ' I brought FL x cream and it worked'

I hope that kind of makes sense.

rayofhope · 01/03/2016 19:52

MrGrumpy before it all kicked off with compliance, I have also seen a top FL person recommending one of the products as a testimonial but it was made to sound like they were a customer and not a rep........

TheGreatSnafu · 01/03/2016 19:53

What I meant to ask is, can anyone help me work out if it is MLM please? I would really appreciate it.

Toobusytowee · 01/03/2016 19:56

Mr Grumpy, I can answer that I think. Boots products- they can advertise their products in accordance to what they are licenced to do. They can sell their paracetamol as pain relief but not as protection from the sun. Your friend might think that Boots paracetamol stopped her getting sunburn so might tell you that. That's not illegal, it's just stupid. As long as your friend wasn't in Boots selling it at the time.

If I had dry skin and my friend recommended FL cream because it worked for her and she had nothing to do with the company that would be ok. She's not involved with selling it. If she recommended it on FaceBook to you and then an FL bot copied the message and put it on her page or told other people about it, the Bot would be breaking the law. Even if she just posted the recommendation with no comment. It would be seen as an extension of advertising.

Eyespying · 01/03/2016 19:58

shadowplay Thanks.

I think what wwc was trying to say, is that thinking makes her brain hurt and that I'm, therefore, not allowed to ask her to think.

Note that I wasn't even addressing wwc directly. I suppose I was asking a rhetorical question.

wwc had begun to give us the benefit of her knowledge concerning the 'illegality of pyramids.' So I suggested putting a very simple, common-sense question to wwc to demonstrate that she doesn't have the beginnings of a clue what she's talking about or the capacity to think outside of her group's narrative.

I even predicted wwc's' response (or rather lack of response).

My suggested question, which you kindly paraphrased, is:

What is the universal identifying characteristic of all Ponzi schemes, Pyramid scams, money circulation schemes, etc?

cozietoesie · 01/03/2016 19:59

It was the 150% that thrilled me, last. I mean it's easy to get things that are only 100% but who other than TV provides even more. Wink

Melaw21 · 01/03/2016 19:59

Snafu I have a nasty feeling it may be, I feel its been mentioned here before potentially, but I cant be sure? I hope that someone will be along soon to confirm one way or the other... 😬

Toobusytowee · 01/03/2016 19:59

Thegreatsnafu. Yes, Thermomix unfortunately is an MLM. If you google Thermomix MLM, all sorts of info pops up. Sorry.

Melaw21 · 01/03/2016 20:01

Thanks toobusy I thought as much...

Who else but TV bends the rules of Maths?

No other MLM does this, dammit! Grin

cozietoesie · 01/03/2016 20:03

Now that may be a claim too far, last! Grin

nextyearrodney · 01/03/2016 20:06

Ah there you all are, looks like I've some catching up to do.

I popped in to ask if I was the only one hearing the rumours that a top FL bot is about to jump ship to Ariix? Wonder what FL HQ will make of that.

Toobusytowee · 01/03/2016 20:07

It seems Thermomix was started in Germany. This is their main product!-
" Thermomix, which is a small kitchen machine, claimed to be the smallest in the world, that processes, cooks and steams food, makes soups and juices, grinds grains and beans, and makes dough and cappuccino. It is not a food processor, but many appliances in one. The company also offers over 25,000 recipes."

TheGreatSnafu · 01/03/2016 20:08

Thank you. So fucking pissed off.

I did google it but not much came up but AS search here shows that it is MLM. Fuck.

What can I do? Has anyone managed to convince a friend not to MLM?

I can't bear it, she's broke and vulnerable as it is.

cozietoesie · 01/03/2016 20:08

I would judge that it's a near certainty - and I'd even put a modest wager on which one. Wink
