Thank you for the link Eyespying It's an interesting read. Maybe I am being naive but do many people fall for this stuff?
I think my db may have tried to recruit me to something similar more than 20 years ago. He called all the family to his place and tried to talk us into buying some naff cleaning products that had to be bought from him initially, then we had to sell so many. i laughed and left - empty handed.

Millions of people around the world have been, and continue to be, churned through 'MLM Prosperity Gospel' cultic rackets since they were first instigated in the USA. The problem only really escaped from the USA in the 1970s after timid and ill-informed federal regulators tried, but failed, to close the original 'MLM' racket 'Amway'.

The 'Amway' racketeers were caught committing fraud. They paid a derisory fine and duped a federal judge into believing that they had completely reformed their illegal activities by introducing smoke-screen 'retailing rules' which are essentially meaningless (because of the ambiguous way they are written).

Currently, there are approximately 1400 'Amway' copy-cat 'MLM' front companies registered in the USA alone. A few have lately been recognised and closed down as frauds by the US authorities, but more keep appearing all the time.

chimps Indeed, you will get people who make it and people who won't but generally you tend to find this with people setting up their own businesses (cake shops, clothes stores, trinkets etc). However, these are generally people who know what they're getting into. MLMs come across as something of a dark art. You can buy products, you can set up a shop and sell products, however you are still competing in an extremely tough market but with products that are markedly more expensive than the industry standard, and in many cases more expensive than the market leaders. I can't see how you could hope to proceed without having to either make exuberant claims to try and place your product above others, or to start earning by recruiting others (and having them buy from you).
However you're then into the cycle that pyramid schemes always suffer from, you make your money from recruiting people and then have to encourage them to sell (and attend meetings to train them how to sell).
It's a process that just can't continue, yet you're encourage to tell others how they could all reach Nirvana.
Yes you get out what you put in, but it can't last forever and this is one message that just isn't broadcast. If you're in an MLM early then sure, you could make big bucks but this will most likely at the expense of others (we all know that Jamberry is on its way, I suspect lots of bots will make the jump over and bring their downlines with them to try and sell the next big product). That's the thing with MLMs, the business model only ever sustains the few at the top, not the many at the bottom, whereas in normal companies everyone gets paid, yes it's not hundreds of thousands a year but it's also not the stupidly high risk together with questionable morals you get with MLMs.

Can someone please explain to me why anyone would want to pay £15 for what looks like Fablon on the end of their fingers when there is this available for around the same price?

sminkypink · 01/03/2016 17:44

FL are very clear that we shouldn't make any medical claims I dispute that because there are countless examples of top FL Bots making medical claims plus in the training. They contradict themselves.

bossbabebot · 01/03/2016 17:45

So chimps me duck, I bet you wish you were sat in a cabin in the forest instead of being on here.

I wish I was!

Wombatinabathhat · 01/03/2016 17:46

Why would you drink something that you describe as "foul tasting gloop" Cita ?

sminkypink · 01/03/2016 17:46

and lets remember this shall we, I'd say it's pretty damning. www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/forever-living-products-illegal-sales-practices-and-training-c772609.html

Citaborca You should be aware that, apart from an insignificant minority of shills, the hidden, overall, rolling loss/churn rate in the so-called 'FLP MLM income opportunity' has been effectively 100% and that, consequently, anyone claiming, or implying, that it is possible to generate an overall net-profit from operating a so-called 'FLP business,' is not telling the truth.

Even 'FLP' shills who appear to be successful have been financing their 'MLM' activity with funds from other independent sources.

sminkypink · 01/03/2016 17:55

Citaborca Head office encourage you to make medical claims in their own trainings. Be it written or on their official YouTube channel. By putting it on their official channel, then they are condoning it. By allowing FBO to bully their downline, then they are condoning it. They don't give a toss, it's clear to me, they then try to smokescreen unethical practise by signing up a 'charidee' (and then encouraging you to donate). Donating to charity doesn't cancel out unethical practise elsewhere, look at Jimmy Savile.

citaborca have you read this link properly. Because even saying "it works for me" pushes you over the line. All you can say is it tastes nice/ looks nice/ has a nice bottle etc.

Hi wombat do stay and read. It's all very interesting! Glad you even saw through these companies all those years ago when you're friend was trying to get you involved.

I always like to pop these figures on here for any new people reading.

So each year Forever do a global rally where all the top peeps get an all expenses paid holiday for all their hard work. This in turn works in their favour for recruiting as others wonder how they have achieved it and they can then say they can show them how and that it's possible for anyone its not

But to achieve these free holidays you have to hit certain incentives throughout the year which includes recruiting and developing supervisors and managers (different levels on the marketing plan)

The more people you help pester to join this scheme the more free days you get and also the more money you get from the 'chairmans bonus' cheque fund.

Last year 997 people within Forever (globally) achieved Chairmans Bonus, that sounds like a great number but at the time there were 10 million distributors world wide which means 0.0000997% of people achieved the top incentives in Forever last year

Doesn't really put the odds in your favour.

Oh but I know the reps on here will come on and say that most of their team only want to earn a few hundred a month so those figures aren't correct. But the reality is most don't succeed. And they have to fail for the top ones to succeed

But Citaborca described it as 'foul tasting gloop' throwingpebbles
How can she sell it under the terms described in your link. All that is left is to say it looks nice or you can reuse the bottle Confused
It sounds pretty rubbish to me.

lastuseraccount123 · 01/03/2016 18:09

FL don't encourage fake health claims huh.
