Greyponcho These non-democratic events are ritualised, just like church services. They always follow essentially the same pattern. All dissent and free debate is absolutely forbidden, because it's deemed profane 'negative'. The 'MLM' preacher recites the totally sacred 'positive' lesson, and the congregation is only their to make the accepted totally sacred 'positive' response. Sometimes 'MLM/Prosperity Gospel' preachers demand laughter: it can make these disguised church services seem less creepy and religious. When you know what it is really going on, it reveals them to be even more creepy.

'MLM' is Great ..... Amen
Praise be to 'FLP' on high .... Amen
The Lord Rex is my shepherd, I shall not want ..... Amen

Motorheadmum · 04/03/2016 12:52

My FL bot has posted that her newest recruit achieved 4CC in his first month... First time she's done this and I know she has others in her down line. I take it they aren't doing as well.

Toobusytowee · 04/03/2016 12:52

Aloeleuyah!

cozietoesie · 04/03/2016 12:54

I guess it depends on the nature of the laughter, Eye? On the few times they've tried, I've had telephone scammers putting the phone down on me (!) and I reckon it was because I was laughing so hard, they couldn't deliver their script. Wink

Our Father who art in Arizona Aloe be thy name...

cozietosie sometimes one doesn't know whether to laugh or cry when faced with Bots. That's why I tend go for the 'T' word and throwingpebbles for the vodka.

cozietoesie · 04/03/2016 13:11

I recall a friend going to a 'meeting' once - some sort of lengthy self-awareness thing - and they actually locked the doors so that people couldn't leave if they wanted to. Now that would make me nervous. Wink

Cozie, if they locked the door on me, I would have a panic attack. Cant stand being locked in anywhere against my will.

cozietoesie · 04/03/2016 13:18

I think the underlying thought was that trying to get out could be you denying your inner mumble and you needed to be raised up out of that etc etc. (I suppose that if there had been a fire, they'd all have embraced the opportunity. Grin Complaining would have been pointless, anyway. )

Locking the doors? must have been 'Landmark Education' aka 'Erhard Seminar Training.' This devious technique of persuasion immediately infantalizes its subjects and makes them dependent on the person(s) with the key to the door. Obviously, you can't leave, but you also have to ask if you can pop out just to go to the toilet.

cozietoesie · 04/03/2016 13:29

It might well have been, Eye. I or my family/friendship circle have been exposed to so many that I've sort of lost track.

Gosh, Cubic. Why you're not a Platinum Penguin already, I really don't know! Grin

DS is watching Toy Story 3 and I overheard this....

Listen up, folks. We have a way of doing things here at Sunnyside. You start at the bottom, pay your dues, life here can be a dream come true. But if you break our rules, step out of line, try to... check out early... well, you're just hurting yourself

I think Lotso might be a bot Shock

cozietoesie The house where I used to live in Normandy, had once been the official residence of the Master of a French Royal Mint. The only entrance gate in the garden wall wasn't very big, but it was extradordinarily heavy like something out of a medieval prison. I never kept it locked during the day, unless I went out. On the odd occasions when I had certain religious proselytisers banging on my door, I used to come outside, stroll over to my gate and lock them in my garden, before giving them a brief lecture. Without exception all these proselytisers became desperate to leave.
