OP posts:
rayofhope · 15/02/2016 21:52

lazyman that's shocking. That's what stops so many of us ex-mlm's from coming forward as we're worried about being sued for telling the truth

lastuseraccount123 · 15/02/2016 21:52

rayof do they make you sign something? why the worry?

lastuseraccount123 · 15/02/2016 21:55

Welcome Lazyman, it's great to have another expert onboard. You wouldn't think they would sue because surely that would mean the truth would come out? Maybe they'll drop it at the last minute, hoping you've spent all your money and disappeared.

You don't mention the religious aspect of ItWorks on your blog. Where you aware of it?

darceybussell · 15/02/2016 22:34

The fact that MLMs are all so litigious (if they ever actually follow through with it) is just further evidence of their guilt. If people blog that they hate Tescos because their prices are too high, their veg is rotten and the car parking spaces are too small you don't see tescos threatening to sue them just for expressing a negative opinion.

cozietoesie · 15/02/2016 22:42

The U.K. isn't generally such a litigious environment, I think. Things might be viewed differently if your influences are from elsewhere.

Eyespying · 15/02/2016 22:58

I would assume that if Lazy Man's has been SLAPPed, his attorneys will have SLAPPed back, but his opponents will have much deeper pockets to keep SLAPPing.

Welcome Lazyman, good to have you on board.Grin

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 15/02/2016 23:09

Surely wrapping your nails in parslai can cure all manner of ills: cancer, dementia, autism, war...

lastuseraccount123 · 15/02/2016 23:14

so SLAPPs don't happen in the UK?

OP posts:
BSintolerant · 15/02/2016 23:18

I think Americans are far more litigious than most. Libel cases are often a mug's game in England and Wales because they're so damned expensive to bring to trial. If the defendant's got no money the claimant's stuffed because you can't take knickers off a bare arse (or 'ass' as they say on Lazy's side of The Pond). If a libel case does go to trial, everything's laid bare in public which could make things even worse.

Eyespying · 15/02/2016 23:27

lastuseraccount123

SLAPP no, but people have been sued in Britain just to harass them and cause them distress. The English equivalent of anti-SLAPP, is the Vexatious Litigation Act, 1896, and in Scotland it's the Vexatious Actions Act, 1898.
