I want to shout it from the rooftops but it's not the done thing is it, so I'm shouting it on here instead, sorry.

I was expecting something momentous to happen, but it didn't. Just a phone call and it's all done. Meh.

Only 8 months into a 25 year mortgage here!

Last one we shaved a year off each time we renewed the term but whilst DS needs paid childcare we can't afford to overpay on this one. I'll be happy if we can do it in 20 years, I'll only be 52. Would be nice to do it in 18 though and be mortgage free by 50.

Congratulations OP. Must be an Amazon feeling but like you say, not really something you feel you can talk about much.

Envy We have 18 years to go - I shall be 66 by the time it's paid off.

No way we can overpay at the moment - we are spending every penny which comes in. We live in the south-east and have three DCs, so housing is expensive. When we moved 7 years ago we tripled our mortgage.

We paid one off, then moved and ended up with another one

Well done, it's a great feeling.

I check my balance online too. It's shows up on the online banking app.
