lying for loan/credit card (unemployed) - money to help my health (can pay it back in few months)

Hi,

So I need to get about £1500 for something that will help my health.

I had a job but am currently unemployed, living with parents. I was going to apply for either a loan through my bank or credit card (but most limit at 1200). I need to lie & say I am either a student or self employed.

I am not sure what is the besy way to go. Have been reading martins money to try & figure it out. Any advice on best way to get approved for money?

Btw there is no one I can ask & really don't want to lie but am desperate and will have money in a few months to repay it back

I know this isn't a great idea, and could be silly. I was reading articles that alot of people do.

Any help recommended, thankyou :)

It is a very silly idea and possibly even fraud. How are you proposing to make the repayments if you are unemployed?

Don't do this. It's fraud. It's illegal.

Lending criteria is really strict for this reason. Even if you said you were a student there'd be checks completed.

What do you need done urgently that the nhs can't pay for and you can't wait 8 weeks?

I'm sorry I don't have better advice.

I'd definitely never advise an increased debt in any circumstances where you'd need to lie, don't have a guarantor and don't have a solid repayment plan.

I believe that what you are proposing is a criminal offence - Fraud by misrepresentation.
Don't do it. Just wait for 'the few months' and then buy what you need

I have been doing some studying online - could this count me as a student?
Also, if I apply for a loan or credit card as unemployed, will I definitely be turned down?

Thankyou- i knew that it isnt a great idea but unfortunately my health isnt great & i need to get some money somehow

I don't think studying online qualifies you as a student if, as you say, you are unemployed. Do you have anything you could sell? It's not worth potentially getting a criminal record is it?

I need to move out as my health is not helped by where I am living atm & get myself sorted, & although I'll have the money in a few months I would really like to move out now.

What if I applied for a loan with the current bank I am with, and said I was unemployed. Or through sainsburys loans or something. I am looking at money supermarket atm.

Thankyou for your responses - I know everyones opinions are what I would say to someone if they were asking the same question, unfortunately the way I feel is that I need to go forward and get money somehow to move out to help my health.

If I am honest about being unemployed (i checked my credit score on clearscore earlier & its okay - 7 positive and one negative) then would i have a chance of getting a credit card or loan?

You say there is nobody you can ask for the money but do you have someone who could act as a guarantor? Plenty of loans available if so (although I agree with others that a loan doesn't sound like the best option in your current situation).

Failing that, does your local council not offer a scheme to help with moving? A lot offer rental deposit support, especially to those with health issues that are, and there are loads of charities which can help with furnishings etc until you get on your feet again.

Please don't do it. You will spend your life worrying about being found out, fretting about being able to repay (how can you be certain you'll be able to repay in a couple of months) and potentially destroying your credit rating which you may need in the future.
Can we try to help you find a way to manage through the next 8 weeks while you save up the money?

thanks again for the replies, i definitely won't lie, i know now thats a silly idea & definitely dont want to be found out.

i really dont feel that i can wait 8 weeks unfortunately, or more than a few weeks, things have been pretty bad recently.

no, its all to do with my health atm, but please do not worry, am not at risk by anyone

To be honest lots of people do this. If you get found out they'll reject you, if not you'll hear no more about it. It's not a smart idea to ask a forum like MN how to do it, just do it or don't.

You could also look at a payday loan who don't care what your circumstances are. You need to understand that this loan will spiral into more as you have no way to pay it back, but I presume you already understand that and are desperate enough to do it anyway?

But even with the money, you'd still have a wait to find a LL who will take an unemployed person.

See your GP if you need help during the wait.

Going into debt when you have no way to pay it back will only stress you further.

Have you get any valuables that you could sell or pawn?
