Still continuing the discussion of the various network marketing schemes or multi-level marketing schemes (MLMs) that people we know are involved in.

If you have an MLM bot of your own then join us and share their claims and content.

Or if you are researching a company before signing up to be a network marketer please take a look at the previous threads here and here and also this thread which delves deeper into the workings of MLMs.

And don't forget our very own MN MLM Timeless Vie!

CheekySmile you're so right about the disclaimer. It basically blames the reader for falling for what the reps are peddling.

I wish we could get a high profile piece somewhere.

LittleMissStubborn · 03/01/2016 09:25

I think that disclaimer is the official line from the DSA so is likely to be on all the mlm's promotional items.

stopfaffing · 03/01/2016 09:52

Cheeky your post reminded me of one I did back in November on the previous thread (last year! Grin about the difficult to read "small print" at the back of two fl booklets I read (an fl-bot had left them for staff to read at work). The writing was both very small and a pale colour, at variance to the large, clear writing elsewhere in the booklet Hmm.

I have copied them again.

The first lot of small print is in white letters with contrasting background and is a bit easier to read, here it is...

Forever is a financially stable company, cash-rich and debt-free. Trading for over 35 years, Forever has a presence in over 150 countries worldwide. With Forever being members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA), and with IIP accreditation, Distributors have access to uncapped earnings, generous incentives, bonus and reward programmes, extensive training and support, and high quality products. If you want flexible hours, extra income, to be your own boss and to improve your life, then why wait? Discover how great a venture Forever is and begin the rest of your life.

The small, small print (in grey letters against a similar shade background and so really hard to decipher) in the next paragraph is as follows...

It is illegal for a promoter or a participant in a trading scheme to persuade anyone to make a payment by promoting benefits from getting others to join a scheme. Do not be misled by claims that high earnings are easily achieved. At Forever nobody receives money for just getting someone to join us but we do reward our Distributors for the time, support and training they give to those who join their team.

So, they have to put these disclaimers in, but there is little necessity to make them easy to read/legible.

Well Id say that that isn't strictly true, I have heard of some people being signed up then receiving no support. I'm sure when they post the x factor sob story and barn photo on Facebook, they are not thinking about how many shares and how many ants legs they might get. Oh no.
And I expect any 'support' dries up the minute they realise you are not prepared to treat your friends and family that way either.

Matching FL Tattoos?

That is hilarious in a very disturbing sort of way. It's all about healthy living and detoxing we know it's not really, yet they damage their skin with a brand image?

Well, I love Lindt Chocolate. I think I'll have a Lindt bunny tattooed on my arm. Hmm

sminkypink · 03/01/2016 11:54

Comment on Louise Perrys Facebook page, 'its not a pyramid scheme, it's a reverse funnel system.' She must've missed that one!

Willdoitinaminute · 03/01/2016 12:11

Loving the reverse funnel comment. Most of these bots appear to be short of a few essential brain cells which is probably why the mother ship use them to promote the system. I doubt they would understand the concept of a reverse funnel so could easily miss it.

Sparklycat · 03/01/2016 12:25

My question...I got gifted some FL stuff for Xmas.. Do I use??

bunchedpantiesagain · 03/01/2016 12:48

Ah sparklycat I can see your chat thread now 'my df gave me FL products for Christmas, naff gift or useful?' Grin

acatcalledjohn · 03/01/2016 12:53

Reverse funnel Grin. That's on par with the trapezoid from a few threads ago.

Obviously bots are too brainwashed to realise that changing the name of a shape doesn't in fact change the shape.

Maybe TV could be Bermuda shaped?

darceybussell · 03/01/2016 13:15

Check out this brilliant incentive trip - for which you have to book and pay for your own flights out of your measly earnings, and share a room with a complete stranger
(unless you pay an extra US$1,900) plus attend several days of brainwashing training! Sign me up!

I've joined fb just to understand what you lot are talking about.

I've 'liked' tv.

What do I do next?

CheekySmile · 03/01/2016 13:18

Ah yes Littlemiss I just copied it from the FL Ad Pack so I had them in my mind, but of course they all need to make that disclaimer.

The guidance for bots as to making claims about earnings is:

Make sure that earnings claims are achievable. Make sure you can give examples of key people who are representative of this earning potential. (Please note all earnings claims must relate to an identifiable person and be capable of verification. They should be representative and not achieved by just one person).

Income claims are balanced. The key here is to avoid suggestion or implication of "easy money‟. This means you need to make reference to hard work, commitment and time needed as well as using statements like "better wealth‟ and "extra income‟. (Please note words we can no longer use are unlimited, legacy, passive, financial independence/freedom and residual income).

The cheque and the tattoo will be my next TV FB posts...Grin

Hi frisk! I tend to like and sometimes share TV posts. It doesn't quite keep the FL zombies at bay but my friends are getting more confident about liking my posts. I think people were quite scared to offend before.

DM told me the other day she had hidden TV. 'Awful shite'. I explained the joke (she has no bots of her own) and she couldn't believe such larceny was going on in plain sight. We need to call Louis Theroux! (I know mum, we are trying...)

She still thinks she failed at Amway because she wasn't a good salesperson and that the company is (was) ethical.

darcey great link thanks! Loved these incentives in particular 😂 (Sorry about the volume thing but hopefully you can still see it).

Lots of info on Forever Living, anything on Arbonne? Does it work in the same way as FL?

LittleMissStubborn · 03/01/2016 13:44

Is that really for £15.53?

What a strange photo to take?

Frisk · 03/01/2016 13:46

I'd highly recommend Xenu's link on Friday.
It's morbidly fascinating to see the gullible victims.

ambler21 · 03/01/2016 13:49

So that fake cheque from acat's selling group bot is apparently from Rhonda Byrnes website.

www.thesecret.tv/gifts-for-you/the-magic-check/
She made her millions from the 'law of attraction' scam. Similar to the pap Dave OConnor touts.

LittleMissStubborn · 03/01/2016 13:52

I read a little bit about The Law of Attraction in regards to their vision boards. I read about one paragraph before I had chills going down my spine and couldn't read any more.

sminkypink · 03/01/2016 13:53

Oh they all read the secret, I had a Younique bot that was reading all that shite. Was a bit worried about her as she's actually doing very well as a make up artist and hairdresser and that shite could damage her main business. She's seen sense now, though and deleted it all from her main business page.
