Credit card question

A few years ago, I signed up for a Tesco credit card in a bid to get more of a credit rating. I was hoping to buy some furniture using it but I ended up having enough money for the items I wanted. In the end, I received the card but didn't even activate it or use it. After a few months, I realised I didn't need it for the furniture so I cancelled it and cut up the card.

Would this have affected my credit rating negatively (the fact I applied for a card but didn't use it?)

Probably not

Probably not.

It's worth getting a copy of your credit file so you can see exactly what's on there though: www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/check-free-credit-report
