Just found out my cc has been cloned/stolen and now has £6000 on it.
Bank are investsigating and reported to police.
Really scared they won't be able to find out who's doing it.
Going to check cctv for each transaction....how long to shops and town centress keep cctv footage for?

Really really stressed

It's horrible but try not to worry. It won't be your financial loss in these circumstances - the bank will have to cover it

"Cloned/stolen" - sorry, I think there is an important difference here. Which was it? If it was stolen, had you already reported it?

Beabea · 08/12/2006 13:38

We had £3000 stolen in the same way. Suits paid for near Harrods. We never had to pay up. Not sure what happened. You aren't liable though.

JunkInMyTrunk · 08/12/2006 15:46

i've worked in several places with cctv, has ranged from 2 weeks to 2 months.

honestly don't worry. you won't have to pay up.

JunkInMyTrunk · 08/12/2006 15:50

i used to be a bank manager. this sort of thing happens all the time. the cr card co has a fraus team who are expert at deciding when things are fraudulent. cctv is really neither here nor there.

think its been going on for 6 months or more. not been receiving statements altho they've been sent and a lot of other mail has gone missing, so might be someone at delivery office.

so how do they decide whats fraudulant?

JunkInMyTrunk · 08/12/2006 16:19

OP posts:
DizzyBinterWonderland · 08/12/2006 16:31

it depends on the bank. please try not to panic. can you ring the fraud team? have they given you a contact? ask them what their process is.
