We had a car accident (Feb) where a in lorry reversed onto us (Family of 4 in car) Stopped in time, but crushed front end.
We were badly shaken, but that is about all.
My insurance went up even though was non fault.
Anyway i have around 5 calls a day saying my case is still open as the personal injury side hasnt been paid to me. I explained we were fine and no injury but they still want to go ahead with a claim....
Everytime i fob them off a different company rings....
Am i being daft here, is this money really mine?
WWYD?

What would I do?

Suck up the increase in insurance and ignore ambulance chasing con merchants.

You were not hurt, you suffered no loss of earnings, it was an accident.

I am sorry, this just makes my blood boil - not your fault, these people are a pita, but please, do not stoop so low.

Notthecarwashagain · 14/10/2015 13:15

I got weird calls like this when I called my insurance company to get a replacement windscreen. Hadn't even had an accident.
They must just have a list of claims or something, and then cold call.

As Tooold said, just ignore them!
Glad you were all ok.

WeLoveHaribo · 14/10/2015 13:40

That's was my first thought. Thank u.
I'm def not a 'where there's blame there's a claim type'
I've suffered loss of earnings via numerous to and froing which comes with an accident they are never as straight forward as they should be, that and the lengthy calls I had to make to premium rate numbers, but yes, no injury.
Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. These people are very good at talking the talk
Feel stupid now.

I've had this after a small rear-end collision. I now tell them to remove me from their database as soon as they start their spiel, and then hang up. 2 years after the incident, I don't have time to deal with these crooks.

BigGreenOlives · 14/10/2015 13:54

I haven't had an accident since 1988 and I get these calls. They are simply cold-calling you.

poocatcherchampion · 14/10/2015 13:56

We had this too. I was in the accident with the children and mildly injured , but fortunately not seriously. Luckily (!!) I was hurt enough for dh to do all the phoning of insurance companies etc so they all hassle him on his mobile not me Smile 6 months on....

Tedious though I agree

Duckstar · 14/10/2015 13:59

Unfortunately, your premiums often will go up when you are in an accident, even if you are not at fault. Statistically, you are more likely to be involved in an accident then other drivers. I am similar and just changed insurance companies (declared accident of course). They just offered lower premium.

worldgonecrazy · 14/10/2015 14:21

I was injured in a car accident and the matter was dealt with by a company recruited by my own insurers. However, your information still gets sold to other injury-claims firms so you will keep getting these phone calls for quite a while. Some of them are really sneaky too, and will claim to be from the "Motor Standards Agency" or "Motor Assessment Company" and start off asking about the repairs before they get on to the injury questions. The best response is to tell them that the claim is closed and you will only speak to your own insurance company, and then refuse to engage further.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 14/10/2015 14:42

When my dh was hit by another driver we received a compensation payout because we had legal cover. Speak to your insurance company and check if this is the case and its this that hasn't been settled. Ignore con artists that keep pestering you and only deal with your own insurers.

specialsubject · 14/10/2015 14:44

start reporting them to the ICO. This went on for 3 years after I had my car hit - I wasn't in it at the time so no question of an injury claim.

they are vultures and we all pay for them.

Fluffy24 · 14/10/2015 15:32

I got this and the accident was actually a collision when my car was parked, I wasn't within 300 yards!

brokenmouse · 21/10/2015 21:56

I get calls and texts all the time, had one the other day saying that £4381 was waiting for me as a result of the compensation claim from my accident. I've never had a car accident.
