child maintenance query

Hi everyone
My eldest went to live with his biological father and I received a letter saying I should pay maintenance. I'd never begrudge my child any money as I've looked after him for 10 yrs of his life with no help from his father. I currently have no job and I'm not entitled to job seekers as my husband of 7 years earns a wage that we live of comfortably. I claim child tax credit and child benefit for my 2 children with my husband and there is a joint claim for housing benefit to help pay our rent as his wages are low. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if this income is maintenance deductible? Thank you in advance Smile

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the minimum you'll have to pay is £5 a week. Your husbands wage definitely won't be taken into account.

How much do you think is a reasonable amount for my two babies dad to pay each month. He has one other child, works full time and has the babies for a few hours once a week? Thank you

Kay - you'd be better starting your own thread..... Maybe on the relationships board.

However in the mean time look online for a CSA calculator. That will give you the legal minimum he should be paying. Anything extra should be negotiated between you both.
