Hi there, we have an application for pip. My husbands doc said to apply, we have looked through it and we are going to fill it in tonight. How long does it take for it to be looked at and decision made? I'm not expecting them to award us although apparently we are entitled to it.

I've made two enquiries; one came back with no ppi on it which took about 6 days for them to reply and the other about 4 days which did have ppi. I then had to fill in another form explaining why I think I was missold ppi which took about 5 mins online. I'm now waiting, it's been 1 day so far.

Once you've sent in the 'how your condition affects you' form your DH is likely to be invited to an assessment appointment, this normal take around 4 to 6 weeks.

Filling PIP forms is can be tricky, you need to really detail how your condition affects you and how often. The applicant has to 'earn' so many points in both categories (care and mobility) then a decision is made. Its worth contacting a support group for your husbands diagnosis.

Two years ago it took weeks (and it was a straightforward claim) but I believe they have now speeded up due to complaints

(If PIP = Personal Independence Payment from the DWP)

Thank u, well I've looked and double looked and I think we are OK with how to fill it. It is more based on the mobility, and some care though. I'm just thinking hopefully it will b sorted by end of November time. Just so we know where we are with Xmas.

Hmm my friend applied early Jan, got the outcome in July....

It could depend what area you come under perhaps this is NW.
