Child benefit after 18

Not sure if I have to inform anyone but Ds turned 18 a few months ago and is off to uni soon. Will child benefit stop automatically? I have had no notification regarding this and gov website is unclear. Don't want to end up paying money back.

Acat, I'm wondering this too, will be watching with interest.

It stops on 31 August of that year, I believe.

it stops for uni students. There's info in the booklet you received when you had to declare if they would continue education. CB cover higher education but not advanced education. It's on the cb websitehttps

Sorry - they stop it automatically now on the 31st August after they turn 16, and you have to tell them to restart it if they are saying in full-time education (non-advanced e.g. A levels), and then they do the same again after the 18th birthday.

Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if they cock it all up
