Does anyone have experience of selling a property privately not through an estate agents

I currently let my old flat. I'd quite like to sell it when my tenant moves out. Is it a real hassle doing it privately. What are the pros and cons?

I bought my flat privately through propertybroker website

The only downside I found was dealing directly with the vendors - they were an oldish couple and used to phone me at work all the time. Ut would have been good to have an estate agent to field their calls.

I've found a couple of helpful websites. They make it seem quite straight forward but we shall see.
That's why I thought I'd ask on here and get the real answers.
