over a year ago I got 3 points on my licence (red light violation, first points). I didn't realise I had to tell my ins. company, my sister just told me I should have and insurance has been invalid all this time. I have renewed my policy in this time, but not claimed. Do I tell them now/what will happen?

Tell them now.

You will need to tell them the exact date and penalty code so have your licence ready

Hi

You will have to notify the insurance company and they will prob backdate premium and ask for reason as to why you didn't disclose your points.i know the sales script and renewal scripts at work ask have you received and motoring or non-motoring convictions or any prosecutions pending within 5yrs?

oops - I did this - but when it came to renewal time I went with a different insurer anyway - which was when I realised what I'd done

so declared it to the new insurer and I guess kind of got away with it - not recommending that's what you should do though!!

I got 3 points last year and when I went to renew my isurance I told them (as they didn't ask) and they told me they didn't need to know about points, only convictions/bans
