coutts bank v exclusive i think1

geekgrrl · 21/11/2006 15:07

Coutts are a bank like NatWest or HSBC.

(we used to bank with them in the dim and distant past - our Coutts Card was a VISA card, but we also had standard switch cards etc.)

Piffle · 21/11/2006 15:07

is it a world, gold, classic or currency card?

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2006 15:07

does it have a normal symbol on it though? I'm trying to put a payment through with one and I thought it was mastercard but that isn't working

Piffle · 21/11/2006 15:08

the classic is def a visa

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2006 15:08

it's a debit card apparently

geekgrrl · 21/11/2006 15:08

try VISA.

fishie · 21/11/2006 15:09

if its a debit wouldn't it be a maestro?

geekgrrl · 21/11/2006 15:09

xpost - I thought you could tell from the first 4 digits of the card number what type it was...

hulababy · 21/11/2006 15:10

Coutts . Apparantly they have just launched an account card to replace their cheque. It has meastro on it, can be used in cash machines and to pay for goods - somore like switch than visa I think.

LIZS · 21/11/2006 15:12

Payment card or credit card ?

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2006 15:14

6559..is maestro delta?

I''l just have to send her the order and get her to ring me again i think

I've tried visa and mastercard and switch and they all come up invalid number

never mind it's not too much, she said it was mastercard but she sounded a bit blank when i asked her

LIZS · 21/11/2006 15:16

zippitippitoes · 21/11/2006 15:19

I wonder if one of thsoe digits is wrong .....

gypsykream · 21/11/2006 16:04

Coutts.......ya gotta be filthy rich to have one of those....the queen banks with them!!!

geekgrrl · 21/11/2006 16:10

you don't need to be filthy rich at all, honestly. We got a free current account with them because they were the business bank for a company dh was a director of.
Anyone can open a current account with them, but the annual charges are around £100 I think unless you have a lot going in.

I didn't like banking with them, for starters people always assume that you must be completed loaded as soon as you pull out your debit card. Also found it all a bit pretentious, the posh-looking cheques and statements...
