Adding an extra name after registering DS birth

MY DS is six months and we registered his name within the requisite time. He's hasn't been christened yet.
My granddad is dying (nothing too horrid, just old age) and we thought it would be lovely to be able to add his name as one of William's middle names if possible. Does anyone know if you're allowed to do this?
To complicate matters, we are with the army in Germany, DS was registered in Swindon and all our families live in Yorkshire!

Yes, you can.

Do you know how we'd do it?

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful was it? I'd contact the place where you registered the birth.

I'll give them a call but if you have to do it in person we're buggered/faced with a long drive from Germany to Swindon. (smile)
