Overcharged on maintenance charges?

Could all mums get behind this chap Chris Townley? He's taking a class action against overcharging by Foxtons. £615 to change a lightbulb.

Everyone is affected. His case could affect overcharging by all managing agents. Please speak to your networks and get anyone with dealings with Foxtons as landlord or a tenant being overcharged.

Sorry to say I have little compassion for landlords who don't query the cost of their property being managed by an agent.

The problem is unfortunately you can query as much as you like, agents don't reveal them. The charges to tenants for the same paperwork they are charging landlords, i.e. double charging is just not evident.

He is querying Foxtons charging all kinds of hidden commissions and making charges to tenants with no agreement from landlords. This kind of practice drives up rents, causes misery for tenants and those owning and living in their own flats. Many other lettings and managing agents seem to do the same.
