DD's piano teacher wants a CRB check

The CRB people won't let him apply for one

Is there a way round this?

You could hire him as an employee, apply for a CRB check as his employer, then he could resign (or you could fire him ) as soon as it comes through.

Or he could volunteer to help out with Scouts/council playscheme/etc. and they could apply for one (he'd really have to keep it up as a commitment, though, or it wouldn't be fair).

I agree that it is barmy. I'm self-employed, do a job that involves working with children (portrait photography, specialising in maternity/babies/children/families) and would like to have a CRB certificate, but I can't get one. Grrr.

It is wrong

Parents are asking for a CRB & they won't let him have one.

we had the same problem with dp....we are fortunate that we know most of the local youth work team, and so they helped him to get his CRB.

i agree it's ridiculous not being able to apply as an individual.

Is it possible for him to apply as a supply classroom assistant on the local council list, it may vary but around here you can go on the list and never actually take up offers of work.
May be worth a try??

I cheated

I said to OFSTED that he will teaching a childminded child at my house - so they will organise him a CRB check (using me as a setting)

Isn't that awful of me?
