Hi.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant and live with my partner and I earn £1,100 a month, 40 hour a week job. For now though where I'm pregnant (Hyeperemesis) and haven't been there long enough for sick pay at the end of this month I'll have around £500, hopefully next month have my full wage.

I want to move out of this house, on my own into my own house without his help/particularly telling him, I'm too stressed during pregnancy and I want a safe secure environment to get ready to give birth/raise my child in.

Obviously I can't do that on my own salary so looked up benefits calculator and I would be entitled to have about £900 a month in working tax credit and housing benefit? Question is will they start giving it to me whilst I'm living with my partner? I don't know how I'd manage to afford to move out and then claim the benefit if you see what I mean? Any suggestions on what I could do?

Thank you in advance. Please do not judge, I'm trying to do my best in a difficult situation, I do work full time so I'm not just after benefits.

Go to shelter or your local citizens advice.

What is your current housing status? Rent/council/own? Whose name is on it?

Why do you want to leave? Is there abuse? If so go to women's aid asap.

If you want a council/ha house go and apply to all your local ones now.

If you are looking to private rent you will need one month's rent and one month's rent as a deposit to move in.

You need to find out how much maternity pay you will get. What are you intending to do re childcare and going back to work?

It can be difficult to get a private let if you are on housing benefit.

It's quite complicated so you really need face to face advice.

Thank you JackieHarris

He owns his own house, has fully paid mortgage etc and I've just been living there for the past year or so. Paying towards bills but everything's in his name.

I want to get out to provide a stable home to set up a nursery and know I'm safe etc.

I want to take 1 year maternity leave but will only get £500 statutory maternity pay :(

Thank you for your help, I think I'll ring and get some advice.

Well in a way that's good that you don't have any rights to stay there. You should be quite a high priority for your council to rehouse you.

Make a homeless application citing 'relationship breakdown' as the reason.

Once the baby is born you will get child and working tax credit and child benefit and housing benefit to top up your maternity pay.
