Can we write our own wills?

DH and I need to arrange our wills, but have little time and even less cash when it comes to this. Can we write them ourselves on the computer and get a friends to sign them as witness?

we spent about half an hour with him going through what we wanted, and then was sent through a version to proof read, then went to the office to sign. So given how much they charge per hour - we thought that was about right for the amount of work.

DH charges somewhere between £100 to £150 I think, and then £400+ for tax planning wills. This is about average for what he does. But he is a speciailst in this area and writes bespoke wills for each situation - so definitely not cheapest. Some small general practise firms might do them cheaper though - but make sure you check who it actually is drafting your will.
