HMRC and multiple tax codes

I've worked in the NHS for 5 years first on bank then on a permanent contract. Since last December I've received 12 different tax codes from HMRC for years 14/15 and now 15/16. I've rung up HMRC every month since December who tell me its because I have 2 payroll numbers one from my present job and one from my old bank job. l've also contacted my payroll office who said they have now cancelled all dormant bank payrolls so problem should be solved. I've put in a formal complaint for HMRC who are now investigating what went wrong.

Anyway today I've received yet another tax code from HMRC and they said the problem is the IT systems of the NHS and HMRC interfacing each other! I'm really fed up as my pay fluctuates by up to £300 pounds each month and now I'm going to have to do a self assessment form to claim it back the extra tax I've paid.
Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to sort it out.
