ESA - affect applications in future?

Hi,

I've been advised to look into ESA/other benefits as I am self-employed but currently suffering from depression and anxiety (diagnosed by a doctor and referred for therapy) which has been triggered by an illness in my close family. I'm not even sure how to apply or how it works.

I am really worried that this will negatively affect permanent job applications in future (I'm a teacher) and will screw up the rest of my life. I fully intend to beat this and feel better as soon as I possibly can but I can't do it anymore and am on the brink of desperation.

Any advice much appreciated.

You apply by ringing the JobCentre. I found them very kind when I claimed.

As you are self employed I'm not sure future employers would need to know.
