Economic Growth?

Stupid ill informed question of the day.
Just seen on the news that the economy has grown 2.something %. If the population also grew, through births, immigration, people living longer, whatever, by the same amount, do they cancel each other out? Or when growth rates are published are the calculated on a per capita basis?

In my experience I can't see how the economy has grown. Our daily living expenses have increase but not wages.
The government will make it up as they go alone, fiddle the numbers and tell you what they want you to hear.

In answer to your question, haven't got a clueSmile
