Will being one day late with a credit card payment stop us re-mortgaging?.

I was meant to have the minimum payment paid by the 21st, I paid it yesterday by fps so obviously a day late.

Will this look really bad when we re-mortgage in October?.

I will be paid enough in outstanding invoices in the next month to pay it off entirely so it will be a settled account by then.

I'm so cross with myself.

It's impossible to say what affect it might have.

It might not even register as a late payment but if it does whether you get a mortgage depends on an awful lot more than just this.

There's not much you can do about it now but it might be worth ringing the card provider and trying to stop them registering it as late.

I underwrite mortgages, I doubt it would be a late payment on your credit file for a day and if it did where I work as long as the last 3 months have been ok we would overlook it.

If it is an issue and the first time you have done this then you can ask the credit card company to erase the late payment from your record as a gesture if good will.

Phone your credit card company and ask if they can please not report the late payment. Mine was due to changing my direct debit amount too close to the payment date (I assumed it would go through but it didn't). I did this with my credit card company and they obliged with no problems. I check my credit file so I know they didn't report it. You can check your credit file free on noodle.

I don't think one day late would show as a late payment. Most banks have an unofficial grace period before its 'late'. If you don't get a late payment charge I don't think they will register it.
