Hello Tracy. Firstly stop panicking - everything will be ok. I was in your position 9 months ago. When (if?) your husband looses his job notify tax credits immediately and they should up your tax credits as your income for the year will go down.

You say you are worried your husband wont be able to get another job - he should be able to get a basic job, even if its something boring or plain it will keep some money coming in. Do you have any emergency cash put aside? I didn't but learnt the hard way so now make sure I have some put by if another emergency situation arises.

Any chance you would be able to work full time hours until he finds something else. This will be our plan if dh faces redundancy. You would possible also get tax credit top ups depending on income. possible speak to your mortgage lender to see if you could go interest only for a while until you get back on track.
