Childcare vouchers - possible to get excess money back?

So, rather embarrassingly have just realised that when our childcare costs decreased we forgot to decrease the amount being paid into our Edenred account. Come July we will no longer need childcare (I work at my Dcs school and my youngest starts there in September) but will have over £1000 left unused in the childcare voucher account Hmm.

Does anybody know what happens if we close the account? Obviously it's tricky as no tax has been paid on any money paid in.

Thank you!

It depends on how your employer sets the voucher scheme up. Where I work, they won't refund you but you can transfer the vouchers, where DH works, they will permit refunds. We ended up with extra money in vouchers and had to transfer them to DH's account for his employer to refund them. Otherwise you can keep them to use for summer schools / vacation childcare.

Thank you, it's Dh's employer so I'll get him to ask.
